SUV "wars" are on the rise with each manufacturer posting their outputs (HP & Torque) at an astonishing values. However, we know that these values posted are outputs taken at the flywheel in the factory. Maybe someone here can post the "real world" unmodified stock output through dyno of the latest and common
SUV's in the market today? It would be interesting to know if they really live up to their given specs and the potential buyer informed..

    cheers!

I do not see the point in making a separate wheel-hp list as compared to the engine hp already published.

You would have to do it yourself given that EVERYONE has already given you the HP values of their vehicles.

Just make a mental note that 4WD will be slower than the 2WD version of the same vehicle because the load and weight from the 4WD system.

The only reason why tuner shops use wheel-hp is it is easier for them to measure engine output at the wheels than from the engine.

I think, one important factor to consider is the power to weight ratio. Ang SUV ay mabigat. Sing bigat ng barko lol. You need lotsa torque to move a ship, este SUV.

All that matters is acceleration times and top speed. Doesn't matter if you have a bajillion hp if your car is shaped like a brick and weighs as much as an ocean liner.

Regarding advertised power: The Trailblazer 2.8 is the real deal. Even the "178 hp" variant made more power on the dyno than the Navara and the Strada, and the 200 hp version puts out much more. Speedlab has done one with bolt-ons, chip and alcohol running over 240 hp at the wheels.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Yep agree with Niky here. My 178hp stock LTZ is pretty fast already. I've done the stoplight dance with the new cr-v and the honda didn't stand a chance.

The K24 is a good motor, but the CR-V's AWD really saps power and the 5AT is inadequate compared to the Trailblazer's 6AT.

TB 4x2 6AT is a monster. 0-100 km/h in around 9+ seconds. I imagine the 241 whp one could put a serious hurting on the 2.0 Forester XT.

i just hope that suv owners are responsible enough to constantly remind themselves that their rigs are still an suv and no matter what they do to improve its handling, cannot be treated like a sedan...

cayenne gts/turbo to be exact, x5/6m, mb ml63, jeep srt8 and fxt sti. you'd be surprised how well those suv's handle, much better than your average sedan and even some sports cars.

anyway if regular suv's i find it funny when people look for power and handling on them and bragging about top speed. for me suv needs to be comfortable, spacious and loaded with features. power it doesn't really matter as long as it has decent power to weight ratio for passing slow moving vehicles and climbing steep hills.

Very true. Haha.
