May nakita po akong 2001 lxi for 330k with 75+ mileage, is it a good buy.
I was granted a car loan po kasi, and medyo naguguluhan po kasi ako. Fuel consumption lang talaga for us ang importante. Pang pasyal pasyal lang namin gagamitin not for work. Ty sa help po!

    You're referring to the 7th Gen ES Civic ('01 - '05/early '06) right?

I was faced with the same concerns before (Vti vs. Lxi 7th Gen Civic) and i just basically kept it open-ended on what was the best deal and condition I could find. Found a 2001 Lxi m/t for 370k with 50K on the odo from a first owner. After a tune-up and upgrading to 15" rims i usually get average around 11+km/L in the city (easy driving and i go to work early in the am but get stuck in the PM rush hour)... in more-bad-then-usual traffic and a heavier foot then i'd go down to around 9 km/L.

If you're looking for a/t variant then it's better to consider a Vti since the engine will have more power and torque to move the car easier. If m/t then definitely the 1500 would be more efficient...

Agree... VTi better if you want an AT, LXi more frugal overall, but not by very much...

and terrific advice... keep your search open-ended. If you find a respectable car in very good condition at a good price, even if it's not exactly a Civic, go ahead.

Personally, Honda's old ATs aren't very efficient, thus, if you are going to get an AT, get the more powerful VTi to lower the inefficiency (heavy AT + small engine = gas guzzling in transitory acceleration). Personally, I'd prefer a VTi manual.

If we're talking bigger engines, the negative effects of AT on fuel consumption are slightly lessened, and if we're talking about Honda's new CVTs, the fuel economy penalty is virtually zero.
