I know, I know, they're on different segments, but hear me out for moment.

I'm looking to buy a second-hand car as a daily driver and these two are my realistic options. One's a 2008 Toyota Vios XX Limited with 80k mileage and the other is a 2007 Honda Civic 1.8V with 78k mileage. I can get either at the same price. Which of the two would be the better option in terms of:

    1. Fuel economy (4-speed 1.5L vs 5-speed 1.8L)
    2. Ride quality (the Vios is on 17-inch mags)
    3. Comfort (Riders would be me, the wife, and a 9-year old daughter who looks like she could be in high school.
    4. Safety (Civic has no airbags or ABS)
    5. Maintenance (parts availability and cost)
    6. Being easier to sell (l might look to sell it a year or two down the road)

try them both out for size.
there's one item money can not remedy, once you buy that car: space.

Bear in mind that the Civic's maintenance will definitely cost more than that of the Vios, not to mention that the Civic's fuel consumption will be greater than the Vios owing to a heavier body and bigger engine

Civic. More space. Car design ages nicely. More power.

Fuel consumption is not much of a problem for the civic. It is thrifty for a 1.8 liter car.

Sabi nga ng honda dati, the civic has a 1.8 liter engine that has the power of a 2.0liter but the economy of 1.5liter

City driving... Vios should be more fuel efficient...

Highway, I'd go for the bigger Civic.
