Lancer EX GLS
-accelerates faster than the Cruze A/T
-smooth ride
-smooth transmission (CVT, smooth as silk)
-big interior space
-great exterior looks & simple mods can make it look even better
-much better casa service track record (than chevy)

The experience of owning a new car goes beyond the car itself, you have to consider the support you can get from the "casa". Current Lancer EX owners can point you to the better Mitsubishi casa branches.

Chevy (under new management) still has a long way to prove it has improved against its past bad image of expensively priced parts/labor and frequent unavailable spare parts (long waits) for ordinary repair jobs. If they improve or not is still something for the future to see.

You might end up like the Chevy Cruze owner who has been waiting three months (and counting) for parts to have his car repaired. The only time Chevy made action was when (1) the problem was getting known to many other Cruze owners on this message board and (2) the owner made known that he was filing a lawsuit against Chevy for the inaction.

Chevrolet Cruze LS A/T:
Cheaper by 140k than the lancer...
Better dashboard materials, euro-inspired instrument cluster and the Camaro-style Steering Wheel
6-Speakers, 6-CD Changer & Ipod-USB connectivity
Speed Sensing Door Locks
Better fuel economy since its 1.8L Dual-VVT
And the 6-speed A/T

Mitsubishi Lancer EX gls:
More power thanks to the 2.0 MIVEC (less fuel economy)
CVT good for performance and economy but Zero-fun for the driver....
Horrible fake wood for the interior trim....
No Reverse Park Sensors..
4-Speakers, Single CD...

If you're eyeing any local Chevrolet, might as well get a Daewoo and replace the emblem.

Get the Lancer. End of discussion.

Obviously you haven't tried the manual-mode of the CVT shifter. Lots of fun on challenging roads or race track. Shifting quickly down or up a gear with only a single flick of the lever. It will even down-shift two gears quick with two quick flicks.

CVT (in full automatic mode) is also great for smooth driving, no sensation of changing gears at all.

True but that can be fixed by having it painted or re-trimmed with your choice of material like leather, etc.

2011 Chevrolet Cruze - Car News
Chevrolet Cobalt replacement expected to have a new direct-injection turbo-four.
BY ALISA PRIDDLE, July 2008, CARANDDRIVER.COM
The Cruze was engineered at GM’s Russelsheim, Germany, development center, and was designed in Korea by GM Daewoo. The car will be assembled in plants around the world, including the U.S. and Mexico, various parts of Europe including Russia (GM is building a new plant in St. Petersburg), South Korea, and Brazil.
Technically its an Opel/Holden/Daewoo/GM car... better to have been built by 4 car companies than just only 1...

The Cruze LS is not really cheaper than the Lancer EX

Check this: http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/u...UPricelist.jpg

The Lancer EX has been selling with an SRP and a big discount for quite a while. The latest discount offer makes the Lancer EX GLS cheaper at P895,000.00 (discounts inclusive).

To compare: Cruze LS AT = P908,888.00

Better fuel economy since its 1.8L Dual-VVT
How can you claim better fuel economy when the body is one of the heaviest in the car class?

Isn't it heavy car body + small engine = high fuel consumption?

And the 6-speed A/T
The automatic tranny is oversold by Chevy and by the fan-boys.

They would quickly overlook the real world lack of performance of the Cruze A/T. 0-100kph in 15 seconds. (where most cars like the Corolla 1.6L or Civic 1.8L would do it in 10 seconds.) That is more than five or six cars behind if you try to do a quarter mile drag race.

So what if it is slower? Well, you might find yourself wanting to overtake a car (or bus, or a slow jeepney) but you can't because you simply can not accelerate fast enough even with your foot on the floor.

Yeah, I know there is a shiftronic on it but it would've been better if it had the paddle shifters.... I have nothing against CVTs, I just find them boring and not exciting... Peace

Better a quick accelerating & quick shifting CVT (with auto/manual modes) with or without paddleshifts than a slow 6A/T in the Cruze A/T.

Peace
