Of course this ranking is only based on absolute fuel economy, not fuel economy per passenger (which the Insight would fail miserably, that's for sure).

the figures are MPG city/highway, US EPA estimate (which are usually overstated quite a bit)

20MPG = 8.47km/L
30MPG = 12.7km/L
60MPG = 25.4km/L

What's surprising is that the 6-year old Toyota Corolla (1.8L engine) is on the list at all, and that it gets better mileage than the Fit. But i think US Fits don't come with the 1.3L i-DSi or the CVT. But for the Corolla, quoted city is 32mpg or 13.55km/L.

Heck, the Jazz 1.3 can get much better scores...

Baba ng estimate ng 1.5 VTEC Jazz, ah... our clubmate got 32+ mpg (14 km/l) when we went to the BRC. That's mixed hataw (on track) and high speed highway running.

the EPA methodology has been widely criticized by people for being unrealistic. but it's a consistent method of comparing different vehicles (roughly). i think if the EPA estimates are within 10% to 20% of each other, that's statistically insignificant, because driving style trumps everything else. so EPA estimates are just for rough comparisons.

Kaya nga nakakapagtaka... I've never seen better than 16 km/l on a Corolla in real world conditions, yet you can get 20s even with the 1.5.

US diesel will have very low sulfur content next year, up to the end of this year it is 500ppm and next year it will be 15ppm for highway diesel(cars and trucks). Diesel also sell for about .25 to .40 more per gallon than regular unleaded, which is why most people here don't use diesel.

Do they use the 1ZZ-FE or the 7A-FE engine on the Corolla in the RP? Isn't the Altis the one that uses the 1ZZ-FE? US Corolla engines are the 1ZZ-FE(135hp) and the 2ZZ-GE(170hp).

I think it's the 1ZZ-FE (1.6 - 1.8) for the new one. Very fuel efficient, even in AT, but not exactly Jazz territory...

Sadly. Our diesel isn't comparable to the ultra-low sulfur diesel of Europe.

Our emissions regulations are pathetic, considering it's easy to cheat on the tests... but even if you don't cheat, it's amazing what passes here. I still don't believe that our smoke-belching Isuzu Crosswind actually passes emissions (but it does).

If you want to die early? I think the best place to go is Beijing or Mexico... but Manila is getting there...

I wonder what years those cars are? What speeds were done for city and what speeds for highway driving?

The Fit only has 1.5L engines here in the US (we testdrove one, ok rin siya).

The ones marked in bold have either a hybrid/gas-electric system. Some diesels of back then, like a member posted, can still get better fuel mileage than those.

Bakit top 3 yung natural gas Civic? Siya na yata pinakamababang city MPG and 3rd lowest highway MPG.

If the sulfur is US diesel is 15 ppm, I wonder what it is in Philippines.
