Hi fellow tsikoteers. been having this dilemma since last week. we've sold our old and faithful mazda 323 95' model and we're planning to get a new car this february. the criteria for my choices would be first and foremost the FC of the car, next would be the ride, then last but not the least may porma naman. currently we had two choices, yung 1.3 jazz mt na 2012, and yung papalabas na hyundai crdi, both are in manual form. since we're shelling out a decent amount of cash, we also need a worry free car. (i know some people with really deep pockets would not think of the 750k as a big thing) but for us it's a huge sum. d naman kami mayaman eh, ! any advise guys and gals of the choices we've had? other inputs and models are welcome as well, budget would be 750k max, could stretch it for at least 10k more. by the way we're from iloilo and traffic here is somewhat light compare to those in metro manila. the jazz would've been my runaway winner pero we're having thoughts pa on the new hyundai accent crdi, diesel kasi mas mura kumpara sa gas. the only thing stopping us was the engine knock issue on previous accents 1.4 ba yun na gas? hirap naman pag ganun, pabalik balik ka sa casa, and parang nawala na yung essence na you did bought a brand new car para hassle free if casa pa rin naman bagsak mo.

yup ganun na nga siguro mangyayari hehe. antay antay and pigil gigil muna. oo nga no? i've read sa mga comments ni sir niky yung not cooling down the turbo before turning off. don't have any idea kung ano yun, siguro may way sa pag alaga ng turbo engines. yup sir boy pansin ko nga hyundai accent na unang model na diesel lakas humatak, i remember when i was on my way pa office, lagi ko binabantayan diesel na accent cab. pagkasakay ko tinatanong ko palagi drive na manong d daw makahabol vios dito? yung driver naman eager to show the power, shift sa lower gear then biglang hataw, i could feel the torque of the accent, dikit na dikit ako sa upuan hehe.

Hyundai Philippines previews the Accent Hatchback - Auto News by AutoIndustriya.com

Since knocking is somehow part of normal diesel operation (Engine knocking - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). And IMO, diesel talaga ang forte ni Hyundai. Pansinin mo yung diesel engines nila, mas advanced at malalakas compared sa diesel ng Mitsubishi, Toyota, Ford.

Things to watch out for sa CRDI engines are premature turbo (VGT) failure, injection failure.

Just a follow up, VGT turbo failures mostly occur if you immediately shut your engine after a heavy engine running (100kph and up). Immediate shuting down of engines failes to lubricate the delicate parts of the turbo. Solution is the installation of turbo timer kung malilimutin ka..

Second is the use of inferior engine oil not supporting turbo's. The highest engine oil API rating so far for diesel is API CI-4 and is really best for heavy duty diesel turbo engines.

salamat sa mga nag reply, tama si sir valskie, 110k kms without engine problems is okay na. sa amin kasi swerte na siguro maka 500kms sa isang buwan. hehe. nasa hyundai side na kami mga sir, ala pa nga lang actual unit ng crdi accent dito sa iloilo. to sir granro01 salamat sa mga tips, would keep that in mind, btw nag iinstall ba mga casa ng turbo timer na yan? sorry no idea po kasi, but i do know the purpose of the turbo time, d ko lang alam if ginagawa nila sa casa yan.

Opinion ko lang. Correct me na lang if mali. 1995 model ang car mo. Is it bought brand new? Limited budget pa. If yes, then long term user ka so dapat choose a car that is cheaper to maintain in 10-15years period.

If alam mo ang cost ng isang Hyundai CRDI nozzle, clue - 5 digits, then you know the rest. :D But hindi mo rin alam if bababa ang price after 10 years.

Mitsubishi Lancer EX 1.6 MT after discount, around 770k. Good reviews din.

Same with Getz CRDI na unang lumabas.

tinitingnan ko nga yung lancer ex 1.6 medyo maangas kasi porma eh hehe. it all boils down after the test drive tho, we're leaning a bit sa hyundai due to the crdi engine, pero pag may available na unit na dito and after ng test drive at medyo d satisfied then it's jazz or ex. thx sa mga inputs guys, really appreciated the efforts.

i was also highly considering the accent hatch + crdi last year, pero sobrang tagal i-launch so made up my mind and got the jazz. very happy with it

good choice ang accent crdi, at least on paper. IMHO though, let it pass a few months after launch, before you actually get it since reliability is a major consideration. i don't think uso dito sa atin ang extensive public road testing prior to full launch. as mentioned ng iba, let it get some real-world experience and feedback.

btw, Unioil has euro-4 diesel. additional choice for clean diesel. Total din alam ko okay ang diesel.

if walang maging problema, all the more you should get it. (i'm still looking fwd to test-driving this car.) good luck
