What is your pick? If you have a lot of money to burn... Where will your money go to?

For me... Quite hesitant, but i'd pick the ultra big LS model from Lexus...

Thats tough... its probably a tie between the LS and the facelifted 7-series for me.

PS: A new sleeker 7-series will appear next year.

A few years ago, I have daily driven a 745 BMW (not my car)

    http://www.pbase.com/cta2/ambs_car

My personal comments are: its a great car, but not relaxing to drive... coz its too "alert", like having 3 cups of coffee when driving it.

The BMW is too much of a drivers car that it gets tiring

I have also driven a Lexus LS recently and its very comfy... I would choose the LS over the BMW as a Daily Drive... yes, there are people who use these cars daily.

But of course badge for some is important...

Havent driven the new S class so I cant compare the MB

    just my 2 cents

    Sold locally:
    MB S-class: Optra SEL
Audi A8: pwede na rin... lacks "arrive" factor
BMW 7er: mukhang bulldog pa rin
Jaguar XJ: OMG ganda!... may have build quality issues
    Lexus LS: Camry XL
Maserati Quattroporte: uh, sure, if you're Bono, flyglasses and all.

Aw... the full-size market isn't what it used to be. For me the most beautiful cars were when it was E38 vs W140 vs 1stGen A8 vs 3rdGen XJ... '90s kid ba? :bwahaha:

Ewan ko ba, yung W140 namin gets more respect than yung W220...

Money no concern, I'll take the German road cruisers. Even the Japanese acknowledge the Germans are the top dogs judging by large numbers of MB and BMW flagship cars owned by Japanese..... in Japan, no less. It was quite an eye opener for me. I saw no such thing the other way around in Germany.

man.. if I had the money to burn (and it'll be soon!) I would pick the Lexus LS (no questions asked) coz when it comes to reliabilty and overall quality, nothing beats a Lexus.

I have driven a bunch of Mercedes-Benz (and I also work on them.. coz Im a mechanic) and all I can say is that nowadays, specially from the 2000 model up to the current model.. and whatever class it is *except from the AMG models* is that their quality and reliablity is poor (check out Consumer Reports). but, the older Mercedes-Benz vehicles (before the 2000 model) is better and they are more reliable and much more luxurious (in overall quality, like the: Interior, Exterior, Handling, Braking, etc..).

anywayz, to break it down. I'd take a Lexus (any model) from a Mercedes-Benz (except from the AMG model) any day of the week. and thats the same with BMW's, Audi's or Jaguar's.

I'd rather enjoy my Lexus and drive it all day, any day. instead of having a german car being stuck in the STEALership coz its broken down and they have to always fix it.

    aite, peace.

PS: and that statement is from me, who is a "die hard" Mercedes-Benz owner & enthusiast, specially back in the day.

I have to wonder though....... If the German cars are lemons, why do people keep buying them especially at the price? It certainly goes against the mantra of "fine German engineering".

I honestly doubt people will keep buying them if they were. These people wouldn't have made the money they have by being dumb.

The Japanese, especially. Japan is the last place I expected to see large numbers of Euro sedans. But I couldn't count for more than a minute without seeing a number of them in rush hour traffic.

We know the Japanese are some of the most nationalistic people on Earth. What would motivate numbers of them to choose a German car over their own? That says a lot about the German cars.

^^ whoa! I have that on my wallpaper from a couple years ago ('06) and I really like how they got that CLS all tricked out.

truthfully though, I still like Mercedes-Benz.. but not like how it was before. like myself, Ive had two W201 190E-2.3, and our family has a stable of W123 300D, W123 300SD, W124 300D Turbo, W124 300TE Wagon and an ML430. all of them served us pretty well all these years, but sadly we had to let go of a few (W123 300SD= SOLD!, W124 300TE= RIP *my brother wrecked the poor thing*, W124 300D Turbo= SOLD!, 190E= RIP! *coz I junked it*). now we moved on driving Toyota's (Supra, Camry and a Avalon). and a Hummer H3.

also, we can afford a new Mercedes.. but after seeing alot of them with wiring defects (you'll see alot of Benzes w/ messed up tail lights (like theres a short or something..) and other BS. I told my parents not to get a Benz again. and even our ML430 is in the sidelines now, and we might sell that thing too.

    aite, peace.

    Heard about that...

Since someone posted pics of the Brabus Mercedes models...

    Here's the full-size 500hp Alpina B7 (Alpina used a supercharged V8 instead of a V12 for better balance)

PS: HyBrideVo, isn't the CLS 4-door coupe technically a mid-size since its based on the platform of the E-class?

not all are bad as people people make them out to be. it's just that they experience more problems per 100 vehicles sold than their lexus counterpart.

The Japanese, especially. Japan is the last place I expected to see large numbers of Euro sedans. But I couldn't count for more than a minute without seeing a number of them in rush hour traffic
it could be that Lexus was never a global luxury brand until last year, hence the large presence of german luxury brands in Japan.

    sir, see post above.
