which would you pick?
I had a chance to test drive a used limited edition FTO with the 200hp V6. Pretty potent for a small, light coupe. I've driven older turbo Eclipses (namely my 1g rebadged Plymouth Laser). I've also driven a acquaintance's 2g "baby Ferrari" MR2 turbo. I've never driven a Supra although I've seen plenty of them.
Stock, among the first 3, I'd take the MR2 turbo with a tie between the FTO and turbo Eclipse following very closely.
If the Supra was the last model twin turbo, I'd pick the Supra. If it's the older previous-gen, I stick with the MR2 Turbo. The previous-gen Supra would be last.
If it's the turbo version, the MR2, hands down. The Supra, second, maybe... it's kinda heavy and not my type... plus, it'd be much more expensive than the others here.
The Eclipse would be a sight faster than the FTO, but I prefer the FTO's engine... that V6 sounds sweeeeet.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
If it's a comparo, ya gotta have pics. Late 90's Mitsu FTO, mid 90's Mitsu Eclipse, Early 90's MR2, Early 90's (and last model) Supra:

eclipse for me(hehe obvious ba).. if there's something wrong or need to be replace madali lng mkakuha mga parts sa eclipse unlike supra but of cors supra is one hell of a ride..![]()
medyo naliliitan at nasisikipan nman ako sa mr2.
It's kinda rare here, too, compared to the Eclipse, but not as rare as the FTO.
I personally still love the looks of the last MR2 (before it degenerated into Kermit the Frog... oops, the MR-S), that "baby Ferrari" thing never gets old.
Handling uber alles!

supra with the Jz engine...2jzGte twin turbo? i think mr2 has a chance...

The Supra (V6) twin turbo? Its acceleration times are pretty close to an Evo's if not equal. I'd hesitate to say it's quicker, though.
I think the MR2's (with a 4-banger turbo) a bit over it's head against the Supra. 200hp vs 320hp. But then, that's exactly what Toyota designed the two cars for. They weren't meant to compete against each other. On the styling...... I think the MR2's styling is more uh, "eternal"? A red body color completes that "baby Ferrari" look.
I test drove the FTO for only 3-4 blocks at 45 kph. The Japanese guy in charge was pretty stingy about letting me test drive it. It was supposed to be my rental car while I was in Japan. But, he wanted too much moolah..... I settled for a newer Nissan Cube.

Surpa's have an inline 6 from the MkI to the MkIV.
I would take the Supra first doesn't matter if it's the MkIII or MkIV. The 1JZ-GTE on the MkIII makes 300hp and has a lighter car than the MkIV model with the 320hp 2JZ-GTE engine. Next the MR2, any of the 3 versions work also since all had good engines. The 1st gen had the 4A-GZE, 2nd gen 3S-GTE, and 3rd gen could be swapped out with the Celica engine 2ZZ-GE for 180hp for an extra 50hp with the same displacement engine. Eclipse is third, 1st and 2nd gen are good with the AWD and the 4g63T. Last is the FTO because it's FWD only. Even with the 6A12 V6 and 200hp it's still a FWD car that will have limitations in handling. Besides it's a small displacement V6 and I've already had that with my Mazda MX-3 with the 1.8L V6. Those engines need to be revved to the upper rpm's to get torque.

Yup, a red MR2 Turbo. It's not the quickest of the four. But, it looks the most desireable.

But, I also have a soft spot for the 1G DSM Eclipse/Talon/Laser (with pop-up headlights). I'm a sucker for the 1G Eclipse's pop-up headlights. Ditto for the MR2's.

MR2 for the mid-engine RWD lay-out. May not have the power but the handling!!!![]()
