July 8th, 2013 12:56 PM #1Need everyone's opinion in which AT car to buy within a 600-650k budget. Our considerations are as follows:
1. Fuel Consumption- route is Cavite-Taguig on a daily basis
2. Year Model- car must be manufactured between 2010-present
3. Looks/Features
We are initially considering the following:
1. Honda City 1.3S or 1.5 2012
2. Toyota Altis 1.6 G/V 2010-2011
3. Honda Civic 1.8 S 2010-2011
Any thoughts?

safe pick is the altis. take a casa maintained car Para sure na hindi flooded. comfortable ride and ok fc.
City ok din, it's smaller but more fuel efficient. medyo matagtag but looks nice and decent.

Among the options, I'd go with the Civic FD 1.8S - Good combination of space, performance, FC, and porma. If you want a more fuel efficient car around the same price, you can look for a good-priced used Ford Focus 2.0L TDCi (2009-2011). The 1.5L City can do around 10 km/L on city driving while the Civic and Altis will do a bit less (9 km/L). The turbo diesel engine of the Focus can do around 15 km/L on city driving conditions and even better (20 km/L) on the highway.

I'd pick the Civic.. If you could, look for a 1.8V Altis. That's a very good model too though it is a pre-facelift model. 1.8V has lower resale than 1.6V too, afaik and observed in 2nd hand market.

From your choices, I'd go for the City or the Civic.
For consideration, you could buy a brand new Mirage at 638K top of the line na yun.
Also Mazda 3 and Ford Escape. I found some good deals on the web for these models.

I'd take the FD on this list. I once owned one (just sold it recently), performance, reliability, porma, space and fair FC. Mine was a 2.0S though. It is one of the best cars I've owned. Or just like what they said here, if you can find a Focus TDCi then that might give you more FC. FD is just about right when it comes to gas consumption, not so tipid, not so lakas..

July 8th, 2013 01:31 PM #8From your choices, I'll go for an altis V. Though, I'm not quite sure kung may 1.6 sa altis V MY 2011-2012. Lately kasi 2.0 ang altis V na released. Pero I've heard yung 2.0 altis can match the fuel efficiency of any 1.6 car. Experts can you confirm this?
DOnt you want to extend your budget and a brand new car and get the all new vios? Or kung gusto mo pede rin yung outgoing model ng vios, baka papasok sa budget due to discounts yung 1.3G AT nila.

July 9th, 2013 08:01 AM #9IMO... Altis V first mas malambot i drive mas comfortable pati mga upuan. Civic next mas sporty i drive and sharp and steering more precise. FC i think di nag kakalayo mas temptem ka lang humataw sa civic. Features for me same lang ganda lang push start stop ng altis, gwapo naman dials civic. Maski alin sa dalawa panalo ka.
It is repairable. But as oj88 mentioned, it is messy (when repaired) and best used as a last resort.
