few concerns before buying a 2nd hand car

mga expert tsikoteers, help naman.. may mga ilang katanungan lang before i finally purchase a 2nd hand car..

i'm planning to buy this certain Honda City Type Z LX 2002 AT model na kasi that i saw on sulit.. kung magkakasundo kami sa price na P175k, baka bukas magkabayaran na so i need your opinions overnight.. bigyan ko lang po kayo idea about dun sa car..color red yung siya, 115,000kms ang odo, first owner yung seller, may mangilang dents (babae kasi yung seller e), kalbo na ang spare tire, windows lang ang powered, yung side mirror at locks manual, walang alarm..fresh naman in out.. all stock..

now my questions are:

1.) ano po ba difference ng LX sa LXI na variant?..
2.) sa price na P175k, ok na ba siya? di ba mataas? di ba mababa?
3.) totoo ba na pa matic at naka-incline ka dapat di siya aatras pag nagbreak then binitawan na ang break? pag daw umatras may prob ang transmission (may nagsabi kasi sakin na ganun) or normal lang daw (may nagsabi naman sakin na since 1300cc lang normal lang na yun na umatras ng konti)???
4.) ok naman po yung takbo kanina nung tinest drive ko, tahimik naman makina, wala namang kalampag, ang prob lang e parang every now and then may naririnig ako na tunog (parang whistling sound), ano po kaya nag-ca-cause nun?

hope you could help me mga idol, newbie here, wala pa po kasi ko masyado alam sa car and ayoko naman makakuha ng kotseng bibigyan lang ako sakit ng ulo.. pang-everyday use p kasi sana ko to..

115tkms is a reasonable mileage for a car of this age, though bordering slightly on the high side. Its easy to remedy the missing amenities you mentioned. The power locks and alarm shouldn't cost much in Banawe.
1. 2002 LX? Are you sure? Ang alam ko yung base variant ng City ay GL, followed by LXi, EXi and VTi. Baka naputol lang yung "i" sa badge.
2. Assuming that the car is really in good condition as you mentioned, 175k is a good price. Though you may probably do a last ditch attempt haggling for 170k. There are dents to fix and a spare tire to change, after all.
3. In my experience of driving A/T's, I have yet to encounter one that rolls down when the shifter is in "D" when the brake is released. Though it will definitely roll down when in neutral. If you experience this, try first checking the ATF.
4. Whistling sound? That is kind of hard to gauge when one doesn't hear it himself. Do you hear it in high speeds only? If so the weather strips probably aren't properly sealed.

3. depends on how steep the incline is. if incline is not so steep and tamang "hanging" lang, then the car shouldn't move. pero kung yung incline mo eh parang sa tagaytay highlands, the car will roll back when left in "D" if you're not pressing on the accelerator. from personal experience also, mas mahina ang hatak ng honda when when leaving the AT in D as compared to a Toyota.
4. Whistling sound is probably coming from the A/C. I also get that whistling sound from my civic ES from time to time. not really sure what causes it but so far, wala namang problems. hirap din ipa diagnose sa casa since you really don't know kung kelan sisipol. imagine mo na lang na naka turbo ko at humihigop ng hangin. lol. :D

May lx variant, and Yan yun carb pa. Hindi fuel injected.

Assuming sa description, 175k is a bit high. I'll bet medyo kailangan na ng hilamos. If I were the one buying, mga 150k to have room for repairs.

As they have said hindi dapat atras kung inclined sa mga tipo ng c5 entrance.

Wistling sound sa ac? Usually expansion valve may problem.

a) Wala atang LXi variant ang 2002 na AT. Pero kung meron man, ang LX (as the name implies) is not fuel injected, carb pa yan.
b) 175k for a 2002 AT City? Parang mababa pa ata, imho.
c) Depende sa incline.
d) Di ko sure, madaming pwedeng pangalingan...

Saw the ad, LXi yan! From the rear pic makikita mo naputol nga yung "i". The car looks pretty fresh the way I see it.

Sabi na nga ba parang ang baba ng 175k eh. Yung 200k ba negotiated price na? Pwede pa siguro 190k, although 200 is reasonable if it is in good condition.

Wala kasi ako dun at hindi ko na-drive yung kotse so I cannot be sure about the tranny. Pero kung at this mileage at di pa niya nagalaw ang ATF, kelangan na talagang palitan yan.

Ano ba kasing klaseng whistling sound? Yung sa brake hindi na whistling yun, high pitched screeching sound ang maririnig mo. Weather strips yung goma sa pintuan para ma-seal kapag nakasara. Yung ibang kotse kapag nagtagal tumitigas o kaya natutunaw yung goma kaya hindi na siya nakaka-seal effectively at may pumapasok na hangin sa maliliit na butas kapag mabilis ang takbo creating a sort of whistling sound. Kung tulad nung sinabi nilang "turbo-like" whistling sound whose pitch goes up and down with the rpm, check if the audio HU is open. I have experienced this with our Revo before, and I initially thought it has to do with the aircon. But then the sound stayed when the aircon was turned off. But then when I turned off the stereo, the sound was gone for good. Very odd, but true. Now, that stereo was the 12 year old tape deck that came with the car. When I changed the HU not too long ago, I never heard the whistling sound again.

Does the car have insurance? Kung wala, that's probably another reason to slash the price.

I'd keep the car as is as much as possible. Carbon fiber stickers are rather tacky. Makes the car look cheap and "pambata". I'd go for the door visors, alarm, power locks and perhaps foglights and a new audio HU. All that after first fixing the dents.

sige sir, pag nagkasundo kami sa price at pag kukunin ko na yung car i'll ask kung even once dati e nakapagpapalit na siya ng ATF..pag never pa,sama ko na siguro sa mga ipagagawa ko..other than that sir ano pa dapat ko gawin since second hand ton bibilhin ko?..change oil,palit oil filter,palit ATF..ano pa sir?..spark plug kaya sir?..yung mga dapat ko gawin sir para mas mapanatili maganda takbo nung car..
