Based on paper (Lancer EX 1.6 and Elantra 1.6)

    Engine (hp / torque )
    Lancer: 117ps / 154nm
    Elantra: 130ps / 156nm
    Elantra wins

    Drivetrain:
    Lancer MT: 5 speed manual
Lancet AT: 4 speed invecs II
    Elantra MT: 6 speed manual
    Elantra AT: 6 speed shiftronic
    Elantra Wins

    Brakes (front / rear)
    Lancer: disc / drum
    Elantra: disc / drum
    Tie

    Head Unit:
Lancer: 8 inch touch screen (MX with GPS)
    Elantra: suksuk type (1 DIN)

    Price before discount:
    Lancer GLX MT: 825k
    Lancer GLX AT: 855K
    Lancer MX AT: 930k
    Elantra MT: 818K
    Elantra AT: 888K
Depende sa pipiliin mong trim ...
Mitsu usually give 30k to 40k cash discount
Hyundai usually give low-down all-in promo

    Maintenance:
    Lancer: 6 months/5000KM (AFAIK)
    Elantra: 3 months/5000KM
    Dito maraming nagrereklamo sa Hyundai.
I've had 3 Mitsu and 2 Hyundais, iilan lang ang matinong CASA ni Hyundai as compared to Mitsu

    Looks: subjective
    Handling: Lancer
Road Noise Insulation: Lancer (bulok yung kumho tires ni elantra)

I have an elantra 1.8gls and I'd choose it anytime against Lancer EX 1.6MX and the previous Lancer EX 2.0MX

Pero for a 1.6, I'm leaning towards Lancer 1.6 GLX AT, considering that I dont usually modify my ride's exterior. And when it comes to tuning, mas maraming tuning option si Lancer.

the figures are all very nice.. but my question is, what about 3 or 5 years down the road? which car will give less headaches? these 2 cars are both new models still..

If you were to mod, I'd suggest the Lancer EX. If you'll keep it stock, then you're better off with the Elantra.

The Elantra will look better if both cars were to be "untouched"

I think that the Lancer EX will last longer than the Elantra though -- big factor if you'll keep the car for more than a decade.

Hyundai also sucks, after-service wise. You have to choose your dealer wisely.

yung current Elantra lumabas nung 2011. yung current Lancer 2008 yata, so naka 3 years na. based sa experience ng mga current models, meron ng track record ang Lancer, yung Elantra nag-iipon pa. pero Elantra is a global car so you are almost assured na magtatagal yan

I'd go for the Elantra. There's not much that is in the Lancer that the Elantra lacks that cannot be rectified by a quick trip to Banawe. But then what the Elantra has which the Lancer does not have will either be impossible or very costly to rectify.

Lancer EX is also a global car ...
Introduced in the US since 2007

Although for some reason, baligtad sa US, mas mababa ang resale value ng Mitsus as compared to Hyundais. I suppose dahil hindi matakaw ang Mga Hyundai Casa sa US

If there's one thing Hyundai should improve on it is their suspension/underchassis.

It's been a common complaint among owners that parts on their suspension give up already on the first few years of ownership.

And of course, again, their after-sales service. ;)

and (probably for the nth time..)..
hyundai cars are ok, according to my kakilala who knows that a compact is compressed powder in a can.. but the casa service is horrible daw. the technology might be there... but the inter-personal relationship is sorely lacking!! as in.. neuron-deficient talaga!!

Baka kapag napansin nila bumababa na sales nila tapos tumataas yung reklamo regarding their after-sales service.

Tipong kahit na mag-reklamo mga sampung tao okay lang sakanila kasi at the end of the day, more than ten yung magoorder ng unit. Ganun.

    Tingin ko lang naman ha.

thanks for the input guys, i guess lancer it is, im actually going for las pinas branch kahit malayo dahil may kilala kaming SA dito. Mukhang olats nga pag kumuha ako ng elantra, ok sana, pero habol ko kasi is yung after sales service.

But before deciding, test drive mo sila pareho . . .

I was so close to buying a civic when it was introduced 2006 ... In fact, i nave the company check for honda alabang. Sobrang efficient kasi ng HR namin, nagpa quote lang ako sa Honda, may check na the next day . . . But when I got a chance to test drive the civic, di ko pala kayang i drive given the long dashboard and Im a half blind 5'4". I ended up with a City instead

Disc brakes na both front and rear ng Lancer. Another thing is suspension. Independent rear suspension na Lancer while Torsion beam lang Elantra.
