You can always hang out with the Vitara Club peeps at 4x4ph.com/forum for tips on parts and services. They've helped me out a lot. Yes, there are third-party Suzuki specialists in the Metro (Links, Olympia to name two). But I just use replacement parts from Glenn's store.

well that is really what's surprising about 4x4 suzuki's. we had a suzuki samurai 4x4 before, and it was the worst, lemon car we ever had. noon up for sale namin ito samurai nabili pa ng 230k after 6 years (srp ata was 360k). pinag-agawan ng mga agents. sinabi na nga namin sira 4x4 sige pa din. truly one man's junk is another one's treasure.

    HI,

Last May 1, we are able to visit the showrooms of Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Ford and Suzuki... to check on compact SUV that I'm planning to buy in a month or two...

Can you help me decide, where in I already narrowed it to the three. Here are my first impressions... (my own opinion)

Exterior Looks: I like CRV first, GV and then Escape.

Interior: I like the new style of the GV but it downside is that it's CD player can't play MP3 CDs. I also like the interior color of Escape.

Price, CRV Select is cheapest with 999K but without other perks like fog lights, tire cover, cd changer, etc. Next would be Escape at 1.117M and then 1.2M for GV but it is already 4x4 wherein the two are 4x2. The upside on price of Escape is that it has good promo of 120K downpayment Only all in, and it's engine is already 2.3.

It is really hard to decide... Please help ...

    Regards,
    Lucas

Well... ask your self first if you need the Vitara's 4WD capability. Among the three, I'd pick that one right away.

If you don't need a 4x4 vehicle... I'd also consider the Mazda Tribute... has the same engine as the Escape but has more goodies (sunroof, puddle lamp, etc.). Plus they will give you a 100K discount if you pay in cash.

Though between the Escape & CR-V, it would be a tough choice. Both are quite old already but have recently undergone some minor facelifts. With the CR-V, almost everyone owns one already... though it is good value of the money. The Escape meanwhile has a bigger and powerful engine.

What are your criteria/priorities in choosing? I Have driven CRV and Escape, passenger lang sa GV. CRV has a more comfortable ride and more car-like in terms of handling. Feeling ko sa escape- i ride higher and feels bouncy. GV is kinda sluggish. I think CRV has an advantage in resale value. Looks- I go for the GV. Fuel economy- CRV over escape. Have you test driven your choices? Maybe it will help you choose. Good Luck!

pero among your choices, i think i would go for the crv. i think its the roomiest among the 3.
pero tama si m2. ganda ang tribute.

    Hi,

The mazda sales, just texted me that they have a promo of less 100K, even for installment... I will have a second look on the tribute....

I wouldn't bet on the 2.3L Tribute... gas guzzler and mahina ang hatak. We have one and our 1st gen CRV is much better torque than the Tribute. Hirap nga akong umakyat to Baguio via Marcos highway (buti na lang hindi kami dumaan sa Kennon Road). But for other Tribute drivers in the other threads, theirs sounds fine, di naman gas guzzler. Hmm... di kaya may sira yun amin?!

I'm also strongly considering buying the GV to replace the CRV. That's why I'm looking for more comments.

Once there was a Suzuki booth in Robinson's Galleria, it's a Shaw branch, sabi ng sales agent na per order basis sila coz they don't stock a lot of GVs.

Ok na sa akin if the consumption is around 6 km/liter kasi ganon din naman yung CRV namin pag city driving.

Concern ko lang talaga ay yung hatak niya. Kasi 2.0L pa rin, same as the previous model pero lumaki yung size nitong 06 GV. So iniisip baka mahina yung torque niya. Horsepower is not a factor kasi di naman ako mabilis magpatakbo he he he!!

Bro Luc, why not consider also Hyundai Tucson at least less than P1M din naman . So far no negative feedback naman on the Tucs owner on their ride the 4X2 VGT CRDI /AT could be a good choice.

Regarding the power & torque issue, eto yung nakita ko sa C! Magazine & from the brochure of the 06 Grand Vitara:

    Previous Grand Vitara 2.0
Curb Weight: 1355-1700 kg (I guess the heaviest is the XL7)
    HP: 126
    Torque (lb-ft): 128

    2006 Grand Vitara 2.0
    Curb Weight: 1530-1550 kg
    HP: 145
    Torque (lb-ft): 142 or 193 Nm * 4,000 rpm

Would you guys know if the the increase in Torque will compensate on the added weight of the 06 Grand Vitara?
