Thank you for the insight ... So ride comfort of the 2016 Honda CR-V (4th gen) is comparable to that of the 2015 Ford Explorer? ... Was thinking of getting a 2015 Ford Explorer for the ride comfort but concerned it might be too cumbersome as a daily driver ... If the 2016 Honda CR-V is just as comfortable as the 2015 Ford Explorer, will consider getting the Honda CR-V ...
Mostly just for city driving ... So no need for sporty handling ...

1. Explorer
2. 2018 CRV
3. 2016 CRV
4. Forester
5. XV
Explorer offers more space, presence, and comfort at the expense of significantly higher maintenance and fuel costs.
The 2018 CRV has the best ride among any car you can buy under 2M. And I agree with Whistl3r that it improves significantly vs the prev gen in terms of handling while also improving ride comfort (even if the old one was already cushy).
The 2016 Forester has very good visibility and is spacious in its own right even if the new CRV is significantly roomier. NVH is noticeably inferior to the CRV though. XV is cramped.

What jut said. I'd just add that the Explorer is pretty wide and long, so since it's gonna be used mostly in the city, tight parking slots might be an issue.
Both CR-V's have a much more manageable footprint in the city. The last gen CR-V is short on legroom though. If both rows of seats are used all the time and everyone is 170 cm tall and up, it's gonna be a bit cramped.
The current gen CR-V is pretty generous on legroom for its size.

The current CRV is biggger than the previous gen. The previous gen (4th) looks small even against the 3rd gen.
The Explorer is big, not land-yacht big like the Expedition but it is bigger than the usual CUVs.
How about a Honda Pilot? It’s as big as the Explorer. At least, you won’t have to deal with the horror stories of Ford aftermarket support.

The Pilot is discontinued locally but not globally. Its engine is shared with the Accord 3.5L V6 which has been sold since 2008.
Walter is looking for a used Explorer so a used Pilot might be worth considering. Besides owning a midsize unibody SUV requires some money to maintain, folks who own it don't expect it to be as cost-efficient like a compact car, not even a midsize car or a CUV.

So if you were to rate the ride comfort level of the top three with air suspension being a 10 ... 2015 Ford Explorer an 8.5? ... 2018 Honda CR-V an 8? ... 2016 Honda CR-V a 7? ...
Considered the 2015 Honda Pilot but too few people bought it ... So lesser parts availability and experienced mechanics to work on it ... Reason for considering Ford Explorer is because they are cheap in the used market and lots of low mileage ones ... Plus there are several independent Ford specialist repair shops that have opened ... and of course more Ford parts shops available ... So we don't really have to depend on the dealer ...
Thank you for the insight(s) guys ... Was initially considering a used 2012-2014 Honda Accord and a used Honda Odyssey ... But was concerned of the ground clearance (Odyssey has 4.5 inches only) considering our road conditions here ... Also didn't want to maintain too many vehicles ... So thought of getting the Ford Explorer ...
So, does the benefit of the Ford Explorer's ride comfort outweigh the cons? ... Too big to drive, parking issues, etc. ... or just be better off with the 2016 Honda CR-V? ... Noticed that there are quite a few used Ford Explorers with really low mileage (less than 20T kms) ... Is this an indication that people find it cumbersome to drive around in the city and use it as a weekend vehicle? ... Incidentally, there seems to be more Toyota Land Cruiser LC200s running around compared to the Ford Explorer ...Last edited by Walter; November 12th, 2018 at 02:20 PM.

my wife have the 2014 Explorer 3.5L provided as company service. she likes the ride comfort, spacious and the ford nsync infotainment. she enjoyed driving it for quite some time at first until umayaw since mahirap daw i-park at matakaw sa gasolina she's still using it as service pero with driver na. its a type of car that you enjoy riding better as a passenger, lalo na kapag traffic at long trips. i drove it on few occassions, smooth acceleration, very stable, big and roomy cabin.
Did some independent research and decided to go with the white pearl crystal.... para maiba naman. ...
