The E-Class and the 5 series is more refined. But based on looks alone, the 300C would whoop them both (at least here in the Phils.). And I believe if you get the V8 version, you'd beat the other two in a straight line.

yup, and the Ford Mustang would whoop the Infiniti G35, BMW 3-series, and Benz C-class also. still doesn't make it a worthy competitor to any of those cars.

Seriously, this is special in its class because it's cheap, but it will be nowhere near Benz S-Class, or an E-Class for that mater.

the 300c is hardly in the same *price class* as the E-class, much less the S-class.
i think that's what makes it "interesting" even to americans. you get 80% of an E-class at 70% of the price (dito, more like at 60% of the price). i think it's pretty much no argument the E-class or 5-series bimmer is a better car.

but the 300/300c competes on price with the Infiniti G35 and Nissan Maxima (and even the Mazda6/Accord! at least in the US, if you compare the base 300 with the top-end Mazda6 or Accord). not the Merc E class.

In Asia, if you wanted to get something with E-class underpinnings, you'd have to get the Ssangyong Chairman and Ssangyong Rodius/Stavic. Both of which are based on the earlier W124 E-Class platform.

Sa Sunshine Motors may Chairman pero rebadged as 500SE. hehehe. Ok na din.

Hehehe. Bakit kaya mahilig dumikit ang Mercedes Benz sa mga companies know for their not-so excellent build qualities. Ssangyong, Chrysler, etc.

I certainly would be expecting a caddy like feel hehe, after all, it's a big american car, it wouldn't drive better than, let's say an expedition or something, floaty, dead steering and suspension is a given, but with this car... it's all about the presence hehe... lupet eh.

Well, if you take it as it is.... you're buying limo power and size for the price of a premium compact.

Who cares how cheap it is inside compared to a Merc or a Bimmer? It's still big and cushy. And the comic book hero looks are certain to draw stares, even from the jaded rich in their techno-riffic (but ungainly) BMWs.

But I prefer small cars, too... I'd definitely buy an S60 T5 over one of these... but that's just me.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

With 2.5M I'll take a C-Class Merc or a BMW 3 series M-Sport. If i had an extra 5M then i'll take one of this and the other one that i didn't buy with my first 2.5M =).

well, in the states, the 300C may be less attractive since there are other, perhaps better choices that sell for similar money.

but here in the phils, the 300C definitely competes as a luxury car in the luxury segment, and it plays with a relative price advantage. fully-loaded versions lang yung binebenta dito, since it wouldn't make sense to sell a base version (the price would still be well in the luxury range anyway)
