insurance or warranty? most cars have 3 years warranty but i agree it's not really needed, on all my cars that i've owned never ko pa na gamit ang warranty, well actually i've used it once only, ran in a deep pot hole which messed up the cars alignment but that was my fault and not the car itself. if i own a car that will need warranty claim with in those 3 years i'm sure i'll sell it asap, just imagine what will happen after 5 or 10 years if it needs to be fixed with in the first couple of years owning it.

TS im actually watching this thread for a while now.. The only reason i have not yet made a single comment is because your list then doesnt include korean cars. Since ngayon pwede na, ill share my input.

First, please tell your wife that this is coming from a female in her late 20's, single but with plenty of pamangkins and a big family from abroad who goes home once or twice a year. I have an old 3DR SUV which i still maintain and use most of the time and an AUV i use when i need bigger space or when family visits me here. Recently, my Dad decided to let go and sell the AUV. We've been SUV hunting for more than a month now but didn't limit our choices to brand name, make or reputation. As in sobrang lawak ng choices namin, jumping from one test drive to the next and showroom hopping on every free time.

Only condition ng dad ko sa pagpalit ng car: Brand new.
Condition naman ng mom ko and this is strictly my dad and I must abide to: 1.5M budget give or take

After every showroom visit and dinner discussions we crossed our list one by one and went down to two choices, parehas na korean car at parehos pa ng make. Hyundai Tucson or Hyundai Santa Fe. Medyo nalalakihan ako masyado kung ako lang mag isa sa 2012 na Santa Fe, pero yan ang pinaka nagustuhan talaga ng dad ko. We dropped by at Pitstop to view the 2013 Santa fe, me and my dad loved it instantly! Sadly it's really out of our budget range, even the ones HARI will release for an automatic transmission, almost 1.8M. If budget is not an issue, will wait and get the Santa Fe in a heartbeat! Since it is, i looked at the bright side and told myself i won't be needing the extra 3rd row most of the time anyway. Tucson is more than enough for my hospital duties and FC is rated well by most users.

Good news is HARI released a new promo that slashed a 100k discount for the premium tucson gas. 1.6M went down to 1.5M which is just within the budget so im more than happy with that

If you're not too keen on a premium tucson, +1 for me sir on the Santa Fe!

Hi and appreciate your comment. he wife will definitely see this. If my wife would be sensible, then choosing a car who have been much easier. Sad to say that my wife, being in her late 30's is still part of the populace that thinks big cars are safe cars and more "sosyal". I have tried to educate her so many times but she keeps on going back to her usual impulsive and heart over mind thinking. I've actually given-up on helping her choose since they fall on deaf ears naman hahaha. Forgive me nancy (my wife) if you're reading this ...peace tayo.

So now, i let her be and choose na lang. The best thing i salvaged out of this was having convinced her in looking at the the Korean car brands. And that was when i showed her the Santa Fe....the rest that followed was history. Will be going to pitstop to check an actual unit.

Your choice is not bad at all...perfect for your needs.

I'll have to admit that the new Santa Fe is quite a looker. Good design, Good Interior design and features (i would say balanced naman and not really over the top for the grade we're looking at). Monocoque Body with a CRDi + VGT engine(this is my personal preference). The 3rd row is a plus but i doubt it's inhabitable since were still getting the SWB. My wife wanted space, then she gets space.

Since we've now ventured into Korean territory, I would just like to ask tips and some guidelines from you. The workings of the models itself are familiar to me. Yung buying process ang hindi since if ever this will be the first time for me also to get a Korean brand. Honestly, i only found out recently from this thread about pitstop, hancars and their disambiguation from HARI. Likewise, found out also about the 3 months/5000 PMS service interval and how HARI "forces" you to stricly comply. What other things should i watch out for. TIA

if you're going to have the purchase financed i suggest better go straight to the bank and get pre-approved. the DP may be more (and they might say you pay for the chattel mortgage, etc.) but in the end, adding everything up, you pay much much less than if it were financed "in-house". for a 1.7M car the difference between bank direct financing and "in-house" financing promos is in the realm of P200-300k.
