But then, the parties still make money...
I don't think a 20% discount is the norm in cars. Montero na pinakamalaki magdiscount but 200k vs 1.8M is just an 11% discount. Even for outgoing models, anything above 100k is generous.

Manufacturers support moveout discounts so they can pipe in new inventory to the dealers, so that they themselves can load up new inventory from the plants. No different from any other business.

Honda offered big discounts before for the outgoing models of the Accord 8th gen, 300k for the 2.4L and 500k for the 3.5L. VW also offered big discounts on the Jetta, Golf, and Touareg. The Touareg was offered at 1M less than its SRP (3M from 4M).

That's moveout support from Honda themselves so they can pipe in the new model. Not necessarily at a profit, but more to free up warehouses and demurrage.

The 3.5 V6 was being offered to us for 1.2M (showroom unit) around the time we were buying the CRV. Just saw no point getting another sedan but that was really good value at that price.

I guess I got lucky twice on outgoing models from the same car manufacturer...

    Years ago I bought a ride for P360k after a P70k discount.

And in 2015, bought one for P1350K after a P250K discount.

That's around 16% off each from the published SRP...

The downside is after 3 months, you're driving a new previous model.... But I don't mind....

Ano ba gusto mo? Gas or diesel? 5 or 7 seats? Between 1.0M to 1.2M, dami options (Innova 2.0L gas, Geely Coolray, Kia Sportage 2.0L gas, Xpander, etc).

Kung used, mas marami ka pa mapipilian.

diesel preferred ko boss. pra tipid long term use.
kaso mahal ng mga diesel cars, preferrably 7 seaters,
pang second hand lng kc budget ko 1-1.2M max.
kaso prang nakakatakot bumili ng second hand, at hassle.
