Hi guys! I'm planning to buy a new pickup this month which will be used daily to ferry my kids to and from school and occasional bed load of around 500 kgs. I'm torn between these two pickups...the DMax and Calibre, both 4x2 and AT. Your inputs will be highly appreciated, thank you!

Navarra pinaka mabigat na steering. Test drive muna.

Yun Strada na 2.4 sana. Not sure kung available na sa dealerships.

New Mitsubishi Triton 2.4L MIVEC vs old 2.5L DI-D - how much more economical is the new diesel engine?

Sayang medyo mahal nga ang ford ranger.. I think they have discount though.

If it's primary use is a family vehicle, Navara. The steering is a bit heavy but the ride is the least bone-jarring. Pretty spacious too for rear passengers, but the seats are rather upright.

If it's primary use is a workhorse, Dmax. Leaf springs offer better cargo capabilities at the expense of ride quality. Since you're only bringing 500 kg of load, even the softer Navara can handle it.

Any known issue that plagued the Dmax 4x2 AT?

Nothing really. Just a bumpy ride, like any pickup. Spec-wise, it's good.

Oh, if it matters to you, interior materials and design look cheap. Durable, but cheap. The Navara has a better interior, but hands down it's the Ranger that has the best interior in its class.

I totally agree that the Dmax interior is cheap looking compared to its competitors...good thing the seats come in leather to compensate the downright boring interior.

    Cheap looking talaga....

to the thread starter... why not include the hilux and the ranger sa mga pinag pipilian mo? It's no.1 and no.2 sa market ngayon... test drive mo Lahat then listen where your heart is, but use your head.. IMO the best all rounder pickup now is the ranger..

    Test drive ka muna sir...

You may want to add sound deadening all around. Thats the upgrade they did on thai models.

How bout the issue on euro 4 engine?.was inclined towards dmax over ranger but they say its still euro 2. What happens if euro 4 (might)become mandatory by 2018 s pinas?

Nothing happens, you still have to register your car the same way. Only change is manufacturers will no longer sell euro2 compliant vehicles.

it simply means, all brand new vehicles to be sold henceforth, shall be euro 4 engined. we won't find euro 2 vehicles in the casa showrooms.
but those already running on the streets, will still be allowed to do so.
if your wildest imagination is that there will be a squad of judge dredds roaming the streets, looking for euro 2 vehicles ... that ain't gonna happen, po.
    heh heh.

Hi everyone. I'm choosing between the two pick-ups too. To the OP, which pick-up did you go with? Will Nissan have an updated Navara for 2017? Thanks!

Euro4 engine is already mandatory, but our weak government is busy with illegal drugs. Next to the priority would be illegal gambling, then a lot more important issue that anything about environment would be in the bottom of the list. Our president's ride is an Isuzu Dmax and i bet he doesn't care with Euro emission even if the polar caps melt or global warming brings more typhoon in this country.

All new vehicles to be used or introduced into the Philippine market by January 2016 shall be equipped with Euro 4/IV engine and compliant with Euro4/IV limits/emission standards. By then, EMB shall issue Certificate of Conformity (COC) for such vehicles only.

Yes it is the 2017 model Dmax...the one Derek Ramsay drove in the Isuzu Commercial. Btw it also has Traction Control System and projector headlamps.

The Nissan has some nice features unique in its class. 5-link coil suspension, second-row vents, 7-speed transmission. Ride quality also one of the best-in-class. It has some minor niggles though, second row bench a bit too upright, steering issues, and chipping paint but has proven to be reliable so far. The 4x2 EL is quite bare, lacks touchscreen, steering audio controls, 2nd row middle occupant headrest and 3-pt seatbelt. Price is very attractive after discounts.

The Isuzu has no issues since being launched 3 years ago. Has a bouncier ride due to the leaf-sprung rear suspension. Utilitarian interior with hard-wearing plastics. New model has traction and stability control, hill-start assist, and push-start. The 4JJ1 powerplant is rated B10 for 500,000km meaning 90% of engines are expected to reach 500,000km without needing a rebuild.

For a price tag of 1.2M, is the 2017 DMax 4x2 AT a good buy? Or should I get the Navarra Calibre 4x2 AT price at 1.096M?
