Yes. I have a Mazda 3 and my mom had a GM City before. More legroom on the City since the seats are thinner. Flatter floor too. The Mazda 3 is wider though.
The 1.6 Mazda 3 is anemic unlike the 1.5 City which is a good match for the body. Also very thirsty for a 1.6. It's an awful car IMO, especially since it costs the same as the 2.0 in the secondhand market.
The 2.0 Mazda 3 is more powerful, looks better, and has more features than the 1.6. Only downside is really the fuel consumption.

Personally looking at Mazda 3, Civic and Focus. Budget at 1.3M. I can't seem to find any reviews nung Ford Focus. 1.2M yung top trim nya and masmataas yung HP nya sa ibang competitors nya though di ko alam kung gano ka reliable ang Ford cars

If budget permits, the Mazda3 2.0L is a good choice. All the good features plus the benefits of SkyActiv technology. It handles very well for a compact and performance is among the best in the class.
The Focus Ecoboost is a good car but plagued by the unreliability of the previous model. The 6-speed AT tranny is better than the old DCT. It is one quick car despite being heavy for a compact platform. The suspension is on the stiff side but it helps it to be composed on hard driving. Ecoboost engines offer a good amount of power and torque. However, it is not that fuel efficient.
The Civic 1.8L is one very good package for less than 1.2M. It is fuel efficient and it is roomy inside compared to the other two. It may not be as quick as the other two but performance is good enough for your daily driving needs.
