i've driven the 2SS camaro, the interior of the 2SS is much better than the LT/LS version of the camaro's and the performance has a huge difference. and when i say huge i'd say the same way as the performance difference of ordinary lancers against the evo. anyway i only choose the camaro because the TS was only asking which looks better and for me the camaro looks much better compared to the GC, but if he asked which is a better overall car i'd say GC then modify it and still save money. or the V8 mustang if the rumors are true.

btw i can't think of a car that has more blind spots than the camaro, that thing is freakingly annoying to drive daily. luckily i drove it in the states, i can't even imagine driving that in the philippine roads especially in edsa at rush hour.

And honestly, while the Camaro was nice, Chevrolet's regular car offerings over the years have been a mixed bag. The Monza was a piece of garbage, and I actually liked the Ford Laser we replaced it with more.

History? Chevrolet is known in America for crappy interiors, poor build quality and terrible reliability. Mention the words "Chevrolet" and "compact" together and you get groans. The only thing worse than the Chevy Cavalier was the Pontiac Sunfire, and Pontiac is also a GM division. At least now, the only dingus left in the line-up is the Aveo (soon to be replaced by the Sonic), but Chevrolet has never been an upmarket or aspirational brand, unless you're a flag-waving American redneck.

Hyundai's cars twenty years ago were garbage... but so were Chevrolet's. Chevrolet's cars nowadays are 100% better than before, but Hyundai's are 200% better than before and about 25% better than Chevy's (except in the Cruze-Elantra war... I'd call that a tie). So no, there's no real reason to buy a Chevrolet over a Hyundai if you're looking for badge-appeal.

If anything, Chev-woo's (Chevrolet-Daewoo, since most of the mass market cars are Daewoo sourced) "history" is its biggest weakness here in the Philippines. Too many people remember such "hits" as the Chevrolet Venture (you should read that thread... epic!) and the the Daewoo Espero. Question: What costs less secondhand than a ten-year-old Espero? Answer: A Cornetto!

Issues with quality, engineering, marketing and management were what brought GM down during Carmageddon. That's why I think it was the right move to reinvent Chevrolet locally under a new management team (TCCCI), to break ties with the old and try to assure people that GM-Chevrolet's history won't be its future.
so really? you rather choose a hyundai GC than a camaro?? hahaha....
    peace out...

On a V6 GC and a V6 Camaro? I'm confident I'll get the Genesis Coupe too. 1M in savings is immense.. think about the amount of modifications you can fit on that budget!

camaro has better interior and exterior looks but more expensive
hyundai GC can save money or blow them off on modifications...

In terms of proper coupe looks the genesis coupe got it. Yun camaro is just a sedan with 2 doors kaya naging coupe. :P

But I think yun appeal or dating ng car yun habol mo.

Depende kung ano dating ang gusto mo:

What you'll probably get from the camaro is mga brief ang malaglag at mga lalaki and little boys na transformer ang tingin ang magpapicture sa car mo.

With the genesis coupe you'll probably get mga girls looking at your car (depende pa yan sa color). Laglag panty, maybe minsan once in a blue moon may girl magpapapicture sa kotse mo. Then you'll get a lot of haters sa daan like civic SiR, evos, sti, Zs, porsche etc bullying and reving you sa stop lights.

But for me kung all out looks for head turning, laglag panty, picture taking ang basehan and 3 Million budget. Hands down new MINI ang kukunin ko. Every parking lot and pa gas mo may magpapapicture sa kotse mo. From HS girls to Vicky Belo level laglag lahat ng panty nyan bubukaka pa. For sure nakapila yan para magpapicture. And kaya din ng JCW ang 240 km/h.

The camaro does look macho and may have the cool effect because it was used as bumble bee if you like transformers. OTOH, the HGC looks svelte, sleek and sharp, much like a panther or a lioness.

I'd look at the camaro like the buff wrestlers or heavy weight boxers whilst I would liken the HGC to a ninja. Stealthy, quick and precise. Or if you want Bruce lee...

Since I'm not a fan of big hulking frames, I'd choose a GC.

BTW, if you'll get a car based on looks alone, don't even get one. Check the car, test drive it, look at upkeep, and most importantly spend time inside it... You won't be spending your time on top of the hood or the roof whilst driving it di ba? touch the interior, look at the cubby holes, the glove compartment and sit on all the seats. Then ask yourself where you'd like to be in? Which among my choices are most comfortable for my passengers? Then you'll have your answer! (sorry I'm an interior kinda person)

After doing all that, I got myself a GC.

    Cheers.

    Galing mo Daumingshirts!

I second that! hahaha. Since the TS appears to be young, single and looking for adventure, the best bet would be a mini. Girls really like how the mini looks. Just make sure they're also mini in size, otherwise they'll have a hard time fitting inside. hehehe.

And when I had the roof down and seated properly, my 5'8" height resulted with the windshield's very thick top edge to bisect the middle of my forward vision.

Beyond my interior seating problems, the MX5 is a great drive for a sports car. Great acceleration feel, handles well and looks cool to girls. The convertible folding hard top is ***y especially when you can take it on out of town trips to less polluted places on the island. Very few cars under the P2M price tag can have the same appeal of this car. (Well, the Genesis Coupe is one...)
My dad tried fitting himself inside an MX5 at an autoshow and commented it as "Masikip sa loob"

I experienced that before nung nasa amin pa yung Cooper.

again, sorry to the ts for reiterating this analogy since i already raised this point on his other thread: "in a relationship, would you prefer good looks (magandang chic/trophy-type/bimbo) or performance (yung woman of substance)?" kumbaga may dalawang pinagpipiliang suitor ang isang babae, alin sa tingin mo ang pipiliin niya: "yung gwapo o yung malaki ang kargada?" (pardon the subliminal tone.)

between gc and camaro: nuff said, the tsikot professor-doctors (sirs niky, sg, gh) are leaning towards the gc for valid reasons.

Yeah, I have this hunch too that he's pooling up all his money just to buy one hence I suggested a GC instead. A million pesos saved is a million pesos to invest nowadays that the market's pessimistic. I'd rather compound that and buy a Porsche at 30 rather than a Camaro at 20.

Daumingshirts has a point. I do agree that a Mini would bode well in terms of cool factor and performance but most men would still prefer those cars with lower ride height I'm usually a 100% city driver so rather than the GC, I got myself a Sonata. So basically.. sacrificed some pogi points for practicality. Not too many on the road and it still attracts attention... well at least better than the run-of-the-mill Honda Accord or Camry anyway.

As for the MX5, being 5'6, sakto lang ako I think the phased out S2000 would be somewhat near to the interior space measurements. Then again, don't look at the S2000.. legacy car, yes. I'd still like to own one but only for keepsake purposes and not a daily driver.

    EDIT:

I agree that not all would like the MX5, but spend time inside one and you'll know why the Mazda3 hit a jackpot in the handling department. Also, don't underestimate the convenience of a retractable top on province runs... +1000% pogi factor once you push the button.

Still, between the MX5 and the GC, I'd still go for the GC. Maspractical talaga due to the money saved. Or if you want pure testosterone, go canvass for a secondhand R34 GT-R. Ayun sure ako konti lang maghahamon sayo sa daan :naughty2:

The GC is very moddable. 2013 grill looks like crap so switch that out. I suggest you PM Henrich for some pictures of his Vega front bumper GC.

Nice looking pics. Beauty is a matter of taste. I love the MX-5 pic you posted. Its a very cute car but its just too selfish for me. :D I like the idea of having two slightly comfortable seats (provided your mates are not taller than 5'6") at the back in case you might have an extra passenger or two. I was also discouraged by reviews saying that the MX-5 rattles everywhere, and I'm quite sensitive to that.

I own the same colour and indeed it looks good. It blends in the background and is not too flashy. I'd stay away from yellow and red unless you want more attention. I'd do away with the front chin and side skirts if you live in the Philippines as it will be full of scrapes in no time. Those shoes are sweet!
