Which edition of the lancer evo is considered the best incarnation of this rally car?

Whats the current value of two year old models, seventh or eight generation evo?

The Evo VI is widely regarded as the best one of the series. Enthusiasts complain that VII and VIII have become too bloated.

    V!

Kasi sya lang yung nanalo sa manufacturer's championship, saka yung 7 onwards hindi na totoong group-A homologation car.

AFAIK, WRC created a new class called 'World Rally Class' in 1997 but the cars have yet to abide by the 'Group A standards' and they don't have to 'meet' the Homologation rules. So, that new WRC mandate actually started in the CP9A EVO V chassis and have been following that rule ever since.

That's from the wikipedia article on the Lancer Evo right? Read on until the Evo VII section, and you'll see that's the time when Mitsubishi started building a WRC car. The Evo IV and V were true to the spirit of Group-A, and the customer RS cars were in fact homologation models.

From the article on the Lancer WRC
The Mitsubishi Lancer WRC is a World Rally Car built by Ralliart, Mitsubishi Motors' motorsport division, to compete in the World Rally Championship. The previous Lancer Evolution series were homologated for the Group A class, and their competitiveness against World Rally Cars from other manufacturers was therefore limited.
