Hi to all car enthusiasts!.,I'm planning to buy a 2nd. hand car next month but with a limited budget of only 150k. My 1st. choice is Honda City Type Z or the Exi model and my 2nd. choice is Toyota Glxi/Gli model, can someone pls. suggest which of the 2 car brands is better in terms of performance and maintenance??. Before I used to have a Honda City 96 Exi model and its performance and engine is excellent only that the maintenance is costly (replaced A/F sensor, oil leaks at the distribution cap and crankshaft oil seal), maybe due to the 160,000kms. it has already reached. Any suggestions is much appreciated'.,also is there anyone who is selling Honda type Z or Toyota Glxi?..
    Thanks....

All old cars will need more repairs.

Best you can do is to find one in good condition with relatively low mileage on the odometer.

Personally I would choose the Corolla because of the car being more common so you can have more units to choose from and potentially cheaper to maintain.

But for your budget, it would be hard or impossible to find a car that is less than ten years old.

Depends on the model. In this case, I'd choose the Toyota...

since nagkaron ka na ng city before, better to get toyota naman. both of them are good reliable cars pero age is always a factor. more than 10 years old na oto will give you problems unless you well know the history of the car (which i doubt that the seller will give you).

personally, better looking yung city than the big body. reliability, both are very reliable basta you've done all the repairs needed. performance, gli is 1600 and the city is 1300 so i think corolla will give more power. at that budget, i suggest na ipon muna kahit mga 20k para safe if something breaks down.

The Honda City belongs to a lower class than the Corolla. The Civic is its counterpart.

If it was me, id try the Corolla since me and our family pretty much had Honda’s.

I see. Maybe you own all the car brands? Kasi we have a Fortuner, CX-5, Civic and a Starex. Of all of them we did not encounter to wait for the spare parts for the Fortuner at the Casa while the others sometimes spare parts are not available specially the CX-5.

But your belief still a fallacy.

    TOYOTA all the way!

My family has gone through different brands (including a Civic) but I am loyal to Toyota. My 2010 Altis NEVER had any repairs since the warranty expired. I'm more than impressed with the durability of this car.

Toyota also has the best after sales service! The best!!!

I do like the current civic and crv but if I had the money, I would still PROBABLY get a Toyota because of Toyota's after sales service

Depende naman kase sa piyesa yan, wala sa casa malamang sa planta meron. Tulog kase ang pera if mag over stock ang casa ng piyesa unless fast moving yung piyesa na yun.

+1. From experience, it's common to have to wait for parts, even for Toyota, unless they were consumables or known wear items.

Agree with the crashy suspension. More on “kablag” kapag deep potholes. Its an econo-car, so i dont expect that level of refinement.

Yep, our 2009 City was like that. The 2009 Jazz was also the same. I prefer driving our older 2001 Accord over those other two.

Jazz & city sits on the same platform.
Only the accord retained the double wishbone suspension.

Sarap nga din magka-accord. But the FC keeps pushing me back. [emoji16]

Accords up to the 8th generation (2008-2012) had the double wishbone front suspension. The 9th and 10th generations already moved to the McPherson strut suspension for the front.

There is a reason why the Accord is Honda’s most praised car as it has been a consistent performer ever since.

Not only the suspension of our old 6th gen but it’s the whole package. Accord platforms have good natural grip and the engine just is matched well with the chassis plus of course, the interior comfort.
