Its quite obvious that each of these 7-seater mid-sized 4x4 vehicles may score high and low on each of your evaluative criteria.
How much weight one place on each of these will be the decisive factor.
The Fortuner was an instant hit since its launching because it almost answers what the Pinoys want in their SUVs and the pricing is very competitive.
The Everest seems to interest those who take the beaten path frequently.
Those who consider the Alterra hold on to the bastion of Isuzu reliability.
But right now, all eyes and ears are on the MS II--because it has what* it takes to unseat the segment leader.
Mitsubishi finally has a winner ever since the Pajero came to our shores.

The Fortuner and Hilux both share the same dashboard. The Innova has its own dash design.
Fortuner Hilux
Innova
The poor use of plastic materials in the Montero's dash is a big let down. The dash's plastic parts (esp. the black trims) is very shiny which might make it distracting driving on a sunny morning or afternoon.

Also the overall design of the MS interior looks kinda dated and kinda 90's or early 2000's if you ask me. Yung headunit di suksok pa din whereas ngayon ang uso is integrated na.
Well the Fortuner and the Hi-lux are one and the same, the Fortuner is just a Hi-lux with a permanent roof on the 3rd row instead of a flat bed. But that front 2/3's of the car is one and the same. Pero maskin Innova the dash design of the 3 vehicles are more or less the same. Likewise pati interior ng Strada and Montero Sport looks the same as much as the Fortuner and the Hi-lux is. Same with Everest and Ranger parehong pareho ang interior.

May 31st, 2009 11:51 PM #25Oh, sorry about the Innova thingy. It's not the same, similar lang. Same lang yun gauges and controls?
Yup the Montero also has poor plastics but due to the darker shade, personally, I find it less noticeable compared to the Fortuner. I like the interior of both cars, the Fortuner looks more luxurios while the Montero looks sportier because of the dark color + red interior lighting.

Top speed? In one of these things?
All three, when equipped with automatic transmissions, will be electronically limited to 180 km/h. Whether your speed says that's 175, 180, 185, 190... (speedos, especially on tall trucks with big tires, can be notoriously inaccurate) that's what the limit is set at.
I wouldn't feel comfortable taking the Montero or the Everest out to that speed. Both have way too little roll control, and can easily be upset by bumps. The old Fortuner is the opposite... it's way too stiff, and can get skittish over rough surfaces and spin out... the new Fortuner... well, according to the guys at C!, the softer new setting makes it just as wayward at high speeds as the other two.

Off-road, the Everest has the best equipment... everywhere else, the Montero is superior, with the Fort splitting the difference between the two both on and off-road.

My choice? Ford Ranger 4x4. Even better off-road, even more stable on the highway. Has a pathetic rear seat, but who cares about the rear seat? :hysterical: If you want a big rear seat, get a van.
