The 2.8 toyota engine didnt impress this aussie. He was towing 1800kg. Link below.
"Struggled abit"
"Little in reserve for emergency acceleration.."
"Poor engine braking"
I wonder how the 2.4 toyota engine performs 😒😒😒

In my experience, the MU-X, with the revised 3.0, is just as quick as the Toyota (subjectively) and possibly quicker than the Monty. They all play within the same acceleration range. The big difference is that the MU-X is great in terms of economy. The new motor can still hit the big numbers on the highway.
Only the Trailblazer, really, is worlds apart in terms of real world speed compared to the others.

I don't actually mind the MU-X interior. I'm still of the opinion that the 4x2 AT MU-X is still the best bang-for-the-buck and the most practical choice for a brand new SUV... even if, subjectively, it comes in last place compared to the competition.

Yeah. The 2.4 lacks the down-low punch of bigger engined competitors like the 2.8 liter Fort and Trailblazer, the 3.2 liter Eve and the 3.0 MU-X... but it pulls cleanly and has good power high in the rev range.
How it compares to the 2.2 Eve, the 2.4 Fort and the 2.5 TB, I don't know. Haven't driven any of those... though I suspect the Fort and Eve won't be as quick.
One thing's for sure... with the more gradual build-up of power and lack of abrupt turbo ramp-up compared to the old 4D56T, the new Monty isn't going to be as big an SUA magnet as the old one.
That will be left to the torque-licious Ford Everest, for the time being.Last edited by niky; March 31st, 2016 at 02:09 PM.

March 31st, 2016 03:27 PM #577so the new 2.4 mivec does not have the rocket like characteristic of the old 4d56 vgt, i was expecting it to be quicker than the old one, some people said the new one is linear and responsive. how about top-end performance? maybe that's where the new engine has an advantage over the 4d56 vgt?

March 31st, 2016 05:23 PM #578Mga Sir, any idea kung may mods na sa Ford Eve for reduction weight. Kasi napapansin ko yun lang nakikita kong cons sa ngayon compare sa iba. But IMHO Everest weight is fine, this is to gain more to its stability and riding comfort. And tingin ko mas rugged talaga body parts ng Eve compare sa iba kaya mas mabigat which means mas matibay..
I'm planning to get the Trend variant or the 4X4 Titanium Plus this coming X'mas season. Any recommendation or advice sa mga may units na.
Thanks in advance..

Kala ko magaan un eve titanium. Kasi nga titanium magaan. Hahaha! Alin ba mas matibay iron steel o titanium? Hindi palaging mas mabigat mas matibay.
