Indeed, PPVs are more form over function when it comes to cabin space compared to MPVs or vans.

Hell, I like the third row of the Avanza better than most PPV third rows.
It is why, if I'm in the market for a land yacht (which I am not, unfortunately), I'd get myself a Kia Carnival instead of any of these PPVs. Too bad CAC priced the Carnival out of the SUV competition recently (from 1.65M on the base model to 2M), would have been great for most pinoys the proper space for seven, the leisurely ride quality, diesel power and frugality. Its ride height is not for our flooded roads but you hardly see even the PPVs traverse river-esque streams.

Other downsides are for the price relative to PPVs it is too bare like ALL korean cars here (blame Hari & CAC), and upkeep is (probably, being korean) on the high side.

in truth, even a test drive can only reveal so much.
many more observations come out of the woodwork, once the owner uses the car on a regular basis.

95% of SUV owners rarely uses the 3rd row...

Meron bang gumagamit ng 3rd row everyday? Maybe less than 5% of SUV buyers...

Unless nalang kung Pumapasada ka.... or you uses it sa AUV express or uber/Grab..

It have been a Van User for more than a decade...

You got lot of space... but how often will you use it?

If i have a driver and i want space. ill get a van...

But if you are the one driving and when it comes sa performance, ease of driving way better ang 4th Gen. Everest... ill choose SUV..

I agree... get a van if you have a driver.... but if you're going to drive it most of the time, you're better off with an SUV or CUV.

glenn is a true SUV owner talaga. we really dont care about the 3rd row. we just see it as a bonus kung meron man nakakabakit. It just so happenend that all PPVs have 3rd rows. Yun nga sa Fortuner ang pinaka nakakapikon ng 3rd row seat noon eh, yun fino-fold sa gilid, kung ako siguro meron nun pinatanggal ko yun.

the advantage of driving a SUV ergo a diesel and mid-size one in the Metro, is fulfilling enough na. besides, mabubwiset lang kayo mag-drive everyday with 7 passengers. ang hirap hirap linisin ng 3rd row lalo na kung may nagkain dun ng clover o potato chips. minsan makakalimutan mo pa, then after 5 months kung kelan gamiten mo ulit, bulok na yun chips dun kakainis yun mga kebigan na ganyan burara

meron pa nga one time, may nakisakay sa amin and 4 lang naman (double date) kami, gusto nya dun daw sila sa 3rd row ng gf nya. after that gmick, unfriend sa FB

I have only had the Exped as the vehicle with a 3rd row seat and I use it rarely. Only the 2nd row is being used most of the time.

Glenn is right about his point that the 3rd row is near to useless most of the time.

Aside sa bonus na 3rd row seat na totoong bihira magagamit, another selling point ng mga PPVs is the suspension. Well-suited sa Philippine road condition na madami lubak. Tapos di ka pa masyado matakot sa baha.
