realistically speaking
why would any businessman deploy capital to build charging stations when there's no demand?
unless you're a businessman planning to import thousands of e-cars and you also build the infrastructure to assure your customers they have places to charge
that will involve tons of money and is a MAJOR gamble

yes Meralco CAN build charging stations
question is not CAN but WILLLast edited by uls; March 16th, 2019 at 02:44 PM.

March 16th, 2019 02:46 PM #4014the third line.
the infrastructure is already there, disguised as poste ng meralco.
coin-operated washing machine-type of technololgy. and probably just as cheap to put up and maintain.
madalang na may costumer? fine. hindi naman kumukunsomo ng kuryente or gaas kapag hindi ginagamit, e.
gosh. i hope the guy remembers this thread and gives me some sort of ...reward...Last edited by dr. d; March 16th, 2019 at 02:51 PM.

Layo na ng usapan ah. Earlier this morning, usapang PPV vs CUV lang, now nasama na EV cars. Doon na lang ako sa CUV vs PPV, mas maka relate pa ako. Hehehe

March 16th, 2019 03:01 PM #4018which guy? hehe!
Re Meralco, I would assume they would be in the best position to act on such an infrastructure given they are a distributor of electricity and not just a producer. They toyed with the idea by having a sample charging station in the Meralco compound in Ortigas and the electric toy car that can't be registered in LTO because it isn't an ICE (this was one issue I recall that was a stumbling block for all electric car because the OR asks for displacement when an all electric doesn't have one)
Alternatively, maybe since Nissan PH supposedly is bringing in the car, they'd build some first in their showroom lots for the meantime. The next step, I don't know but they should partner with ride sharing companies like Grab to make the vehicles more ubiquitous to spread the vehicles out more.
Whatever happens, is just going to happen. But we know the red tape that exists here so who really knows. =) I'm hopeful. But as long as some reliable car company is able to bring in a 100+ mile range electric car along with a means to install a home based charging station, it will be a start. Hopefully, the system can connect to 220volts and a standard size 20 amp circuit. I don't think fast charging is the end all be all for an electric city car (at least to me as someone considering it). I can use such a range for 2 days, use ICE on the 3rd day while the electric car is allowed to charge at home. 4th and 5th day use electric again, back to ICE on weekends. =) At least that's how I see it.
The infrastructure outside the home can come as it will come after. That just makes longer travels viable for electric vehicles. =)
