"I've tried the 2.2 in Thailand. Big difference.
The 2.2 feels okay, but once you've tried the 3.2, you'd never want to drive the 2.2. I'd like to compare it to driving a 1.6 and 2.0 compact car in terms of difference." - Ulysses Ang
I am not saying that you are wrong sir, pero ang laki ng impact nitong sinabi ni Mr. Ang sa decision kung iturn down ang Trend.

2,200 kg ang 2.2 but yes I agree that the additional weight of the 3.2 nullifies most of the extra power.
Biggest difference for me between the 2.2 and 3.2 is the torque and the lag. The 2.2 has more pronounced turbo lag and has a peakier nature, while the 3.2 feels more relentless throughout the rev range because of its broad torque band, even if both have comparable flat out performance.
Have you driven both back to back? Different reviewers have different opinions on cars and it would be better if you formed your own opinion as well.

What Uly was saying was that the difference between the 3.2 and 2.2 is like the difference between a 2.0 and 1.6.
Comparing my 1.6 Altis with my 2.0 Mazda 3 (both 4AT), the 2.0 feels like it has more power on tap throughout the rev range but redline to redline, the smaller-engined but much lighter Altis is just as quick.
A 2.0 is nice if the weight penalty isn't big vs the smaller engine (like the current 1.5 vs 2.0 Mazda 3 where the 2.0 is only 70 kg heavier for an extra 48 hp). Same with PPVs, a bigger engine sounds nice on paper but real world incremental power is nullified by the heavier weight.
