Pajero 2003 or isuzu trooper, which is better??

:D Hello everyone!

I am planning to purchase a pajero fieldmaster '03 or the isuzu trooper. though i have no experience with either since they are both diesel suv's (automatic and on road usage only, sunroof or vcd aspect not important), WHICH IS BETTER!?? :?:

answers from experienced owners and fanatics appreciated:
- any problems regarding smoke belching after 3 to 5 years?
- any brake or tranmission problems?
- is it a bumpy ride?
- will i be having a problem later since its a diesel engine?
- is it noisy?
- which is more comfortable?

any suggestions would help. Thanks! :lol:

Hmmm I have a trooper... so far experience ko...

1. smoke belching - mausok pero nawawala you just have to let it all out once in a while (rev. in hi-rpm)
2. So far wala pang problem coz it's still new
3. the ride is car like... but not comparable to sedans... pero ok na rin.
4. the trooper is known because of its engine... 160 hp!
5. di naririnig sa loob yung engine noise... if ever bearable naman, also di mo maramdaman ang vibration ng makina... kung meron man mahina lang.

if youre gonna buy now, as in now, go for the trooper.

the pajero is going to be replaced soon............. very soon. If it features the new 4M41 engine, it will have THE most powerful diesel engine in its class (185hp). Thats a big if though. It will be more comfy on-road coz full independent suspension na yon.

If you can wait. go for the Gen3 Pajero. Did i mention it looks pretty pretty hot? :D

Pero both of them are actually good.

Nag-Pajero lang ako dahil ito yung meraming magandang examples sa 2nd hand market and ito yung mura ang piyesa, eh.

I would suggest the trooper due to its engine. But the Pajero would also be a good choice due to its reliability and availability of parts.

pero kung hindi ka na maka hintay go for the trooper, kasi naglalabasan na ang mga fender blister na subic eh,

i've tried the '01trooper A/T w/ 50T kms mileage last sunday from manila-tagaytay-los banos-manila. ang lakas ng hatak! parang manual din sa arangkada at parang de gasolina ang makina di maingay sa cabin. :D

ahehehe! hands down Trooper! Kahit ako trooper pipiliin ko. Pero ibang iba talaga gen3 Paj. Baka mag-sisi ka if you get the Trooper now, tapos ilalabas ng Mitsu late this year or early next year yung Gen3.

We both have a 2001 pajero (4m40) and a 1997 Isuzu trooper (3.1 engine). Experience lang namin:

1. Mas malakas ang makina ng trooper. No problemo sa overtaking. Ung pajero namin hirap na hirap nung pumunta kami bicol (matic kasi and mas malaki ang displacement ng trooper)
2. Mas maganda ang porma ng pajero kesa sa trooper IMO.
3. Super simple ang makina ng pajero (mitsubishi eh...GALING!!!)
4. Super mura ng piyesa ng pajero (Mitsubishi eh...GALING TALAGA)
5. Mausok pa rin ang 4m40 ng mitsubishi compared to our trooper na alang kausok-usok kahit na kawawain mo ang silinyador sa katatapak.

Yun lang po... :wink:

Isuzu na ako since my own '76 Gemini. Pag dating sa suspension and diesel engine they make one of the best ones out there. Maintenance and performance wala kang masasabi. Complain ko lagi sa Isuzu is the styling and the interiors. These are never their strong points. Very spartan to say the least. I have a Big Horn/Trooper now and the same thing. Ganda makina at ride but the styling is a little outdated. I bought it kasi I go for performance over porma. The Pajero is hands down the better looking SUV. Yung air scoop(dunno guys how you call it) pa lang sa una ganda na. The body styling is also superior including the interior. The suspension is quite ok from feedbacks from friends. Di lang ako bilib sa makina ng Mits especially the 4D56. For the engine displacement ang baba ng rated HP. Yung 4M40 maybe better but I heard the fuel mileage is quite high. The 4JB1-TD ng Isuzu is IMO a better design. Advantage ng Pajero daming piyesa. Pero problema din maraming piyesa dahil maraming naca-carnap at na-cho-chop-chop sa Pampanga

Joke lang sa mga Pajero users pero tutuo nakawin siya dahil in demand yung units. . Yung bagong Trooper ganda and the engine dishes out 160 hp for a 3.0 cc engine OK yan. Loob especially the A/C sa likod ang corny. Php1.5M diba? If Mits will intro a new Pajero na 4M41 (185 HP) then that's something to wait for. So that's my two $0.02 worth

Oh I just saw the post ni Djerms. I agree with him. K ang feedback nya coz he has both. Mura at simple ang makina ng Mits pero tingnan mo naman ang performance compared sa Isuzu. The new 4JX1 ng Isuzu is the first dito pag dating sa common rail injection. ng diesel engine. Ganda ng makina na ito even if you look at the feedback sa Net. Engine oil nito is Php 3K+ and Isuzu will even have you sign a waiver if you use another oil. For the injection system daw especially designed yung oil. BUMMER!!

it's pretty clear that if i wanted style i should go for the pajero but if i want engine power, then its the trooper. I can wait naman before i have to buy it.

when is the new pajero coming out? how much ?( baka sobrang mahal, aray!) where can i see the image and specs online?

I went to see both suv's the other day(no test drive yet) and what I noticed is that the troopers pedals are to close to the side and to each other, i tried it and got my foot stuck releasing the gas pedal.

the real question is, should i wait for the new pajero? i do want a powerful engine. and whats the difference between the current pajero's and trooper's engine to a V6 engine of their previous model? are the current models as powerful?
