I'll choose Honda because of it's value and reliability (though may recall ngayon) at least parts wise available kahit outside casa at high resale value. I think better FC than mazda3. Pero Kung sa porma, lamang ang mazda3 for me

    We have a 2-liter Mazda3, and Honda City 1.5, both 2010 model.

The 2-liter Mazda consumes around 8-9 kms per liter (San Lorenzo, Makati - Roces, QC route).

The interior and looks of Mazda, albeit outdated, is still classically beautiful. It is well built, with good emphasis on plastic quality, and gap tolerances. I was initially looking at the 1.6 Mazda, but realized how much underpowered it is after a testdrive. Honda 1.5 just feels so much lighter against Mazda's 1.6, from standstill. True to some generalizations here, that 1.6 is as heavy as it looks, and will likely consume a lot of gas on a stop and go traffic of the Metro. Hence, I chose the 2.0 I deliberately did not care for the "new" smiley Mazda, the looks just doesn't appeal to me.

Practically speaking, I'll get the 1.5 City over the Mazda, if we are talking about the 1.6. But if gas price is no object to you, I'll choose Mazda, for sheer handling and build quality.

By the way, I was never a fan of Mazda until I bought a CX9 early last year. A few months later, I bought that 3.

My wife drives that City, and just recently, a Yaris (which I believe is a more practical car than the City if you often just drive alone, or with a passenger).

    Right!

Surprisingly the City has better legroom for rear passengers when compared to Mazda3. Mazda3 is built with the driver in mind, and rear passengers are mere afterthoughts.

i'd go with the mazda 3 since it's more fun to drive, better handling and better build quality. the mazda feels more solid than the city. another reason why i like the mazda 3 better than the city is because the city is every where, unlike the mazda di ganon ka dami.

Mazda3 kasi we bought one, ang City hindi. Why?

Interior ng City di ganoon kaganda. Tacky yung radio.
The tailights and trunk of the City look weird and bland at the same time.
Iba pa rin ang subcompact sa compact sedan. Kahit larger interior space and cargo space ang City.

Downside ng Mz3? Luma na, pati anlakas sa gas ng 1.6L 7-8km/L City Driving.

    Cash? Mz3
    Loan? City

we almost bought a City. I liked the leg room in the back. Very sleek interior. I like the City alot. has 5 speed a/t w/ shifter.

I suggest test driving both. and i think you'll have a conclusion after that

Having the same problem choosing between these two cars.

Both are great cars!. I like the FC of the City but iba rin feel if you drive a larger car like the Mazda 3. Hindi nga lang ganun kaganda ang FC for the Mazda 3

City... because Mazda is about to change the current 3. City's interior feels roomier.

However since wala pang pumapatos sa post ni claRkEnt... why not Accent Blue?! Accent > City > 3.

this is just pathetic and desperate. these hyundai fangays are popping-out of nowhere and its getting annoying. may i remind you that autoindustriya rated the hyundai accent only 3 out of 5 stars.

back to topic, go for the honda city. or if you can wait just a little longer, wait for the 2nd gen mazda 3. if you buy the old mazda 3 now, you might regret it once the new mazda 3 is released.
