    Hi, i'm a newbie here and would like your opinion that will help me decide which unit I should acquire next year...January as the earliest. My considerations as follows;
    1. A 7- seater diesel engine driven SUV
    2. Budget of 1.3-1.5 mPHP
    3. GPS & multi-media ( backing camera is an option)
    4. FC
    5. If MT or AT, which one is more advantageous?

Please do not include Ford units as i have had several very bad experiences on my 2007 ford escape on the servicing ( in libis, commonwealth & global city) as well as on the suspension performance of the escape.

Thank you and looking forward to your feedback.
    Regards,
    boyski04

Thanks seymorebutts and mateomarco for a fast reply. It seems that at this point in time there are already 2 models to consider and probably there'll be more suggestions to come. Will wait for the other feedback and recommendations.

BTW, wala nga palang Gas and A/T ang mga Adventure. M/T and Diesel- fed lahat.
    And prices barely reached PHP900K.
Best seller for "dukha" like me...

Kung gusto mabilis, Montero ka na. I always advice kung kaya mag-manual, manual nalang. Yung natipid mo sa purchase price (1.33M GLS-V M/T, 1.448M GLS-V A/T) ilang buwan, o sa iba ilang taong pang-gas narin. Mas matipid pa siya sa krudo.

Kung naliliitan ka sa Montero, ganun din sa Fortuner, if not worse. Then I'd suggest you check out the Alterra. Hindi siya ganon ka ganda tingnan pero mas maluwag sa loob, napakatipid tumakbo at napakatibay ng makina.

Sorry to hear about your Escape. We had an '03 2.0XLT, '10 2.3XLS and currently an '06 Tribute 2.3. Needless to say, napakasatisfied sa reliability and sturdiness of this car. Yung pang-ilalim nga ang pinakanagustuhan namin dito dahil ang tibay eh.

Since you have many criteria, your choices will be limited. Just search google.

As a couple of guys mentioned, Montero or Fortuner lang kasya sa budget.

Thanks GTI for your input. I will consider them as well. Btw, In regards to my escape. I decided just recently to have it serviced at rapide for the 100k pms, there, i noticed that 3 bolts of the oil pan cover of the at fluid was sheared off and was just remedied by pasting a silicon. Traces of oil leaks were visible though not much. Then both sides under its suspension were damaged for wrong installation of the lifter. The unusual noise that i complained was never discovered though they assured me that there's no problem with it whereas in rapide, it was found out that 2 of its engine support and 1 transmission support was already damaged. Frustrating talaga. 2 shock absorbers in the front was also replaced due to leakage. Anyway, baka malas lang talaga at natyempuhan lang ako. Thanks again for sharing.
    Regards.

Are you strict with the SUV category? if i may include mpv/auv and add it to the SUV classification, Innova, Adventure, and Crosswind can be added in the list...

Hmm, considering your criteria, may I recommend the Monterosport GLS-V 4x2 AT. It has GPS and DVD, back-up camera ready. FC is about 7-8 km/li city driving and 10-11 highway.

Oh my... that seems like the sort of damage a car gets running in the Dakar Rally! But then that's a lot of mileage for a five year old car. Seems like you had a bad mechanic too, if there were lots of "remedyo" and you found out just now.

I suggest you also go read the individual threads about the cars you are interested in, as well as the fuel consumption database threads.

About the multimedia system, that is not really important. You can get the lowest model that goes without it and then install one yourself. These things are not really expensive nowadays, and the car companies may charge a lot of extra for it.

The unit is actually casa maintained. Just tried lately having it serviced at rapide pioneer where i personally saw the leakages underneath when it was lifted. Anyways, bad lesson learned. From the recommendations of those who gave their comments/suggestions, as of this writing I am considering the MS gls v 4x2 and Fortuner. Thanks bjreyesmd and skyflakes and the rest of those who recommended. I'll let you know if i will buy the unit by january.
    Cheers!

Me and my children went to check several suv's this weekend specifically the following:
    1. Trailblazer's 4x2
    2. MS's 4x2 GLS V
    3. Fortuner's 4x2 G A/T

All of us voted to stick to A/T which shortlisted our choice to MS & Fort. but undecided yet which one to choose. Both have gps and ready reverse camera and other features that we wanted. Though we are planning to acquire the unit last week of January, it will be good to get some recommendations/opinions from this forum taking into consideration the advantages and disadvantages of the 2 units. Will be glad to hear from you about this guys.
Thanks form your usual input that will be useful for a potential buyer like me. Regards

You and your children voted to stick to A/T? Do your children drive it as well?

Do you not find the Montero and Fortuner 2nd and 3rd rows rather tight? I'd get the Montero for the added punch, superior 5 speed A/T, and comfortable ride (though the new Fortuner is said to have greatly improved ride quality). Just watch out for any smoke belching problems that may occur. This should probably just mean more frequent cleaning of filters and exhaust and maybe use of synthetic motor oil.

I'd suggest you check out the Everest and Alterra too. Both also have options for excellent multimedia systems and have the advantage of more interior room.

Hi GTI, really appreciate your comments. My kids do drive their aveo a/t and sometimes my ford escape which means they'll be driving the new vehicle too that's why it is best that we acquire a a/t suv. Needless to mention the chaotic roads/streets here in metro manila. In regards to your suggestion re everest and altera, we'll try to visit those units in c5 soon. 4th week of January is still a long waiting and it is still possible to find the best one for us.
    Thanks again GTI. Regards
