September 17th, 2018 05:49 PM #1I have a 1st gen innova diesel MT, bought 2016. Wifey wants to drive AT instead of MT. So I will sell my current innova.
Im torn between a 2nd hand innova diesel AT or the brand new Xpander AT.
I am considering the Xpander even though it is gas fed because my office and my wife's office are not too far away from our home, its just about 18 kms back and forth. Our working hours is either 11am to 8pm or 4pm to 12 midnight, so traffic is not that bad. So in short, it would be a low mileage car.
-The cruise control is a plus when traversing NLEX
-Easier ingress/egress for eldery
-Ligther steering wheel compared to innova (will be used mostly by wifey)
-Seat height adjust (also for wifey)
2nd hand diesel innova (E or G) is being considered because of:
-bigger space
-more engine power
-sturdier under chassis more suited to our roads
-The car will be used within the city most of the time.
-We go out of town once or twice a year only, with 7 people.
-Car will be loaded with 7 people on weekends, but within the city and short distances only
Hope someone can help me decide which is a better buy. Thank you!

September 17th, 2018 06:43 PM #3Kung ako syempre Innova. Sobrang layo naman ang makina ng dalawa. Not to mention the space, the resale value... It is like comparing the Innova to the Avanza.
However, I am not your wife. Ask the wife! [emoji23]

Go with the wife's choice. Besides you're getting a brand new car... iwas na rin sa sakit ulo.
Your driving distance is minimal lang naman so i guess its ok to go with a gas fed Xpander. At least less maintenance costs compared to diesel especially if you plan to keep it for a long time.

September 18th, 2018 07:52 AM #6make computations, po, re. expander vs. used innova.
cost of acquisition and fuel expenses.
then sit back and ask oneself if the extra expense, if any, is acceptable.
i am of the impression that the old innovae are so well-designed and robustly built, that it has few problems thru the years.
i don't seem to recall horror stories from used innova buyers...
but i could be mistaken.Last edited by dr. d; September 18th, 2018 at 08:46 AM.

Puwede i try, 1. Palit air filter 2. Linis throttle body 3. Linis MAF sensor 4. Check spark...
high idle RPM at engine start
