Also the mid life upgraded fortuner might get an upgraded 2.8L as rumored.. 500nm perhaps?
Yes, and thats just my experience with the fortuner, maybe the new fortuner now has improvements, I just dont have a lot experience with our V 2018, saglit lang samin nireplace kagad namin sya. Maybe his father should consider the Montero Sports? What you all think mga paps?

It lacks power compared to other SUVs offering out there hehe. When ever I convoy with my uncle's Nissan Patrol Super Safari I always got left behind, in the highways or even in zigzag roads, at first I thought it was just my driving skills that can't compared to what my uncle has but, when I drove my cousin's Montero GLS-V 2009 everything was changed heheh. Cornering-check, Offroad-check, highway runs-Check, I never got left behind with my uncle's suv. I then concluded that it was not my skills but by the performace of the fotuner that totally lacks. By the way I also tried the Navara VE Calibre and I had the same results! I never got left behind of my uncle's nissan patrol. So I suggest to get the Terra since it is based on the navara's platform
I'm surprised the Y61 Patrol can outrun the Fortuner. Which model does your uncle have? All I know is, the ZD30 diesel is a slug with the aerodynamics of a brick, no offense to Patrol owners. Its a great off-roader but definitely is one of the slower vehicles around.

I've driven a Fortuner VNT and Montero VGT for a while, Montero is faster but Fortuner isn't far off in straight-line acceleration.

I cant remember what Patrol does my uncle had, he already sold it. But as far as I can remember it lies somewhere between 2012 and 2013 it is also modified according to its looks, but I do not know if the engine is modified also or has any diesel performance chip installed. The highway where we had our convoy is the Maharlika Highway going to our ancestral house in Quezon Provice. I dont know sir but I'm getting hardtime to overtake those slow moving vehicles piling up in sharp curves where there are only few and short straight lines where you will get the chance to overtake them all. But I find in easy when I drive the Montero Sports and the Navara. I'm not being bias here since I am a montero sport fan, I'm just wondering or maybe I'm doing something wrong with our Fortuner or its just in the mind since I do not feel the pushback feeling on our fortuner back then. What do you think sir?

Could also be the Inline-6 Petrol which is much faster. If it has a hood scoop, then ZD30 Diesel.

There's no "pushback" feeling as Toyotas aren't tuned that way. Only linear and smooth acceleration throughout.

Anyway, these body-on-frame SUVs aren't meant to be setting 0-100 times so long as it can haul a full load of passengers and cargo safely.

Well, some people spend so much time talking performance with their PPVs even though most of them would not even dare redlining their vehicle’s tachometer.

Not sure why people fuzz so much on acceleration and performance from these lumbering pickup-based vehicles. If you want performance and handling from a utility vehicle, get something with a turbo gas engine. If you want a diesel, get like a Touareg.

Based on local tests, the Trailblazer is the only one quick enough to break 10 seconds on a 0-100kmh sprint while the rest do between 11 to 12 seconds which is as quick as the usual subcompact or compact sedans. Between the Fort or the Terra, I’d pick the Terra.

Btw his father should consider montero too
I was suggesting the facelifted Monty at first. Pero ayaw nita talaga Montero ever since lalo na dahil sa "SUA" lol So, dalawa naging choice niya Terra or Forty. At first we're leaning sa Terra dahil sa tech and discounts tapos tiding comfort. Talo lang talaga sa dash kasi medyo bare. Another one is yung medyo hawig siya sa current SuV namin (mux). Then we went to Toyota, ayun nagulo isip niya. Mas nag lean on na sa Forty kasi yun din naman 1st choice nila before. Kaso hirap kumuha and laki DI dati. Kaya nauwi sa MUX. Good choice naman. Sulit.

Ako gusto ko lang sa forty is yun power tailgate and interior. Yun lang. Pero comfort and tech wise terra tsaka yun macho look. Yun gusto ko dun hehe

alin sa dalawa ang mas madaming creature comfort features?

notorious naman kasi ang toyota sa kakulangan ng bells and whistles compared to the competition.

ToyotaPH can get away with minimal features as they know they can sell.

    toyota did its homework.
it knows its cars will sell, despite the spartan creature comforts.
they believe the consuming public has its perception of good product quality.

An Everest or Monty or Terra with a Toyota badge will sell even better. The same reason why ToyotaPH will not put a Daihatsu badge on the Wigo, Avanza, and Rush.

Can you imagine how a Fort with a Ford badge will sell? It will surely have a hell day of reviews from a lot of Toyota fans. Matagtag na, kulang pa sa features - surely found dead on the road. Hehehe

If you want a more comfortable ride in a diesel-fed 7-seater, there are better options than a PPV.

Innova - better interior space than a Fort and with a bigger engine (2.8L like the Fort 4x4) but its looks is not for everyone

CRV Diesel - interior space like a PPV but drives like a compact car on stilts. It may not have the big torquey engines of most PPVs but it is lighter and it can perform the same.

Sorento 4x2 - priced the same like most midtrim PPVs but with a more potent engine. It is quicker/faster than any of the PPVs. It drives like a crossover thus better handling.

RWD, spacious, simple, reliable, practical. Easy to DIYmaintain, too. I'd vote Innova over any other 7seater FWD-based CUV out there.[emoji4]

He hates Innova as in. Dunno why lalo na old gen Innova. Ayaw daw niya family car ang itsura. Lol.

We checked the CRV. Isa sa choices namin nung kaai yun yung car ng brother ko sa US. Kaso dito kasi masyado madami tinanggal. Ang reason kung bakit ayaw niya
.mababa daw kasi. My father is just 5'3-5'4 kahit hirap siya umakyat gusto niya SUV lol sa nmax nga minsan hirap na lalo na nung malaki pa tiyan

Di naman mababa yung CRV. Tama lang ride height nya. Matangkad yung PPVs dahil sa pickup platform nila. Since typical Pinoy height yung dad mo, mas madali akyat-baba sa CRV. Your dad won’t be needing the extra ride height since he will not most likely Waze thru deep flood waters anyway.

Checkout the Sorento 4x2. Old people need extra comfort so pamper them a bit.
