Among these vehicles, I think only the 1.3 Vios and the Accent CRDi have any hope of doing 12km/L in actual MM rush hour traffic. Typical 1.5 gas engines will only do 8-9.

In terms of safety... Perhaps I may represent the old school way of thinking already by today's standards. My basic requirements are actually just functioning seatbelts, well maintained brakes and good and thick tires. ABS is great to have though not really required. Even less so for airbags. A well-engineered crash structure is most important though. Still can't believe how the Explorer spectacularly failed the crash testing in the US.
