Engine displacement is not the sole factor for fuel efficiency. You have to consider the bulk of the vehicle. A midsize car (Accord, Mazda6) with a 2.5L 4-banger engine will be more fuel efficient than a heavier crossover/CUV/SUV with a similar displacement engine.

The Explorer 2.0L Ecoboost shares the same turbo engine as the Escape 2.0L Ecoboost AWD. Despite being FWD only, its size is quite big so don't expect it to be similar in FC as the Escape or any CUV with a 2.4L-2.5L NA engine (CRV, CX5).

Good point! Since you're expected to spend a bit more on gas when driving an Explorer, I guess it's much better to just get the most powerful and quickest model, the Explorer Sport 3.5L Ecoboost V6.

And packed with more features as well since TOTL na siya. Yun nga lang, it's heavier, thirstier and more costly to maintain than the 2.0 ecoboost.

I wouldn't mind the FC, if you ask me. The Explorer Sport is one fully-loaded vehicle - interior comfort, lots of power, and presence.

I wish it had the 3.2 diesel of the everest/ranger though for those who want to be practical.

It wouldn't be as quick or as smooth though. If you spend almost 3M on a midsize SUV, I guess you have the means to spend for its fuel consumption.

It will be for those who don't like the everest but want a big crossover that is considered the same level as the pajero yet has a diesel mill available in its lineup.
