So which one would you choose and why? I am not good with cars so just pick one according to your preference and let me know why- points you consider, etc.

looks elantra pero di rin naman malayo ang lancer
reliability and aftersales service lancer
overall id buy the lancer
I'd pick the Elantra based on gut feel, just because the Lancer seems to be slower and less economical on paper (heavier, less power). Hopefully local reviews come up soon.
The Elantra's interior looks much better than the Lancer, and to me it feels more spacious too.
Not a fan of both cars' exterior looks in stock form - both of them have rims that look too small for the car's body, and both need fog lamps.
With the Lancer though, I feel that it also needs the side skirts and revised bumper in addition to the GT-A rims in order to look good:
The Elantra on the other hand, looks fine as long as you get the 16" GLS rims, or even better, the 17" rims that other markets have:

lancer for me. durable, mas madali imaintain. for the looks, it's up to you
Parang toyota rin ang mitsu when comes to maintenance and reliability e. But yes, i agree sumasabit din sila. Pero mas mababa IMO ang percentage![]()
I pick the Elantra because it has a better engine (Ward's top 10), 6-speed, more hp and is newer.
FC is still not confirmed for the 1.6 EX but it does have 2 airbags, gps-ready touchscreen and readily available aftermarket parts.
Both cars have ugly wheels, though. The tires probably aren't good either.
Reliability? Mitsubishi better than Hyundai? Really? Are we considering the fact that Hyundai builds gasoline engines for Mitsubishi?
Aftersales service, it's a mixed bag... There are both good and bad Hyundai dealers, same with Mitsubishi...
As Mitsubishi no longer has the same issues that plagued the previous Lancers, I'd rate them as equals in terms of reliability... Maybe Hyundai ahead on drivetrain, Mitsubish on suspension.
I'd pick the elantra for this one. It's a newer platform, new engine, better 6speed transmission, and much better convenience features. The 1.6MX is not a bad car either though the Elantra for me is a notch better. The lancer looks too bare.
I'd take the Lancer.
Rode in an Elantra, the Lancer's IRS still stands out
and I feel that it is more rigid than the Elantra too.
btw, base model Lancer comes with 16" mags and dual airbags and better head unit and it is cheaper than the Elantra.
looks is subjective, but i'd go with the timeless, more stern looking Lancer. Once Hyundai introduces a new design theme, they themselves would kill the Elantra's kinda 'fad' looks.
No issues of reliability here, I also own a Hyundai. They're kinda solid as well.
But Lancer definitely.

Driving dynamics goes to the Lancer nga pala. Lalo na kapag nilagay yung 18" wheels ng GT-A.
Pero mas enjoy kung may 2.0 M/T na Lancer.
Japanese daw ang Mitsubishi eh, Korean lang ang Hyundai
Oh how the stigma never dies...
Lancer for me.
Dress it up nicely and it would be a killer.
Mas ok sana kung 2.0L MT for that extra oomph. :-)
I wonder how the Lancer 1.6 will cope with the heavier 18" rims. Baka naman pogi nga, mabagal naman tapos malakas pa sa gas.
Mitsu is launching the 1600 Lancer to challenge the fuel-cost-conscious buyers who are sliding to the side of practicality in their choices. Elantra looks fresh and fuel-economy is top notch for the 1.6 base model as we come to know now. Let's see what the 1600 Lancer can do. Set-up the Lancer EX to assimilate the EVO-look and it's a killer. Change the wheels to 18-inchers on the Elantra and it can pass as a sporty sedan for those who will not mind the Korean-badge.
I hope we can get fuel-efficiency figures for the Lancer 1.6 to finally make the proper comparison. :-)
I've had lancers before and i currently own an Elantra 1.8L GLS.
Suffice to say, I'm happy with Elantra as a daily driver.
Pero as a 1.6L "project", mukhang mas sulit yung Lancer.
Mas masikip ang interior, pero mas maraming options for mods.
elantra sakto lang ang power nya hindi hirap. yung lancer basta mt kahit 1.6 ok na din. both cars are good
