07/08 2.3 4x2 Escape or 07/08 2.0 4x2 X-Trail

Folks,

Choosing a car for my wife. We can only get from a specific source. Since we have a sedan already, we are looking at getting a CUV.

We are down to these two choices. Can you please enlighten me on:

1. FC comparisons - is it the same
2. Maintenance costs - we will keep the vehicle for 5 years. Which is easier and less expensive to maintain
3. Parts availability
4. Known Problems

Looks like the Escape have better updates (engine 2.0 to 2.3, electronic fuel control etc.) based on the Escape thread here. X-trail updates have been limited to cosmetic updates.

Please limit the discussion to the two vehicles. Thanks.
