July 13th, 2010 10:05 PM #4The new Xtrail is better since it's already a 6 step CVT so it will be more economical and faster. But if you're stuck in traffic everyday, then no car in the world will give you the FC you're expecting. Only Prius will give you that since it's designed for stop and go.

is the new xtrail still a facelift? dimensions look different when i saw one on the road.
going for the xtrail here. cvt transmissions usually yield good fuel consumption compared to traditional 4-speed a/t

July 14th, 2010 01:03 PM #7I don't know if they count this as a facelift of the exterior, but the interior is all redesigned from scratch. The rear design for me is a nice change. The new Xtrail in Japan counts as a facelift for me although a very good facelift. The interior of the Japan Xtrail looks exactly the same as the current Xtrail CVT.

July 14th, 2010 02:23 PM #9xtrail. it's newer (2007 new body), it's actually bigger than the first gen xtrail. the escape has the same body as the 2001 first gen.
other things to consider:
xtrail - 6 speed cvt, better interior, 2.5 li engine, rear aircon vents, etc.
escape - 4 speed a/t, 2.3 engine, facelifted interior.
mas mahal nga lang yung xtrail by a lot. i'd go for a tucson over both if you can wait.

between the two, i'll pick the xtrail.
but i prefer the tucson. it will be worth the wait!
