Hi i would like to ask you guys which of the two would fit our needs.. We are 7 in the family and money is not an issue. I hope we could just focus on both vehicles for comparison.. Which is better in terms of comfort, fuel efficiency, and overall..

Alterra: + interior ( i like the entertainment sytem)
    + comfort (better ride/ suspension )
    - exterior ( fortuner looks better )

Fortuner + exterior (Looks better compared to the Alterra)
+ engine (More powerful compared to the Alterra)
    - Comfort ( alterra has better ride/ suspension)

If money is not an issue i suggest the Pajero 3.2 DiD

Fortuner for the 3.0 4x4 or the 2.7 vvti. Alterra for the 4x2 since it's also a 3.0

Just this two, go with Fortuner 3.0 4x4 or 2.7G. It never looks old. You are paying for the extra bucks for Alterra on it entertainment system.

Agree! If money is not an issue, get the Fort, throw in a nice ICE set-up and up the suspension.

pero if stock and walang gagalawin, i'd go for the Alterra.. plus, nde cia piso sang tumpok sa streets...

This is a no brainer for me, one is one of my favorite SUV in the market, as well as the favorite of the general public I would have to say and the other one I despise because of its fugly looks.

    with upgrade, go fort

    all stock, go alterra

pero fortuner parin ako dahil looks niya mas may dating kesa sa alterra. both units are new for 2009 kaso sobra naman yatang minimal yung sa alterra kumpara sa fortuner ayon sa nabasa ko sa tsikot homepage for the new alterra dito.
    for me
interior eh mas maganda fortuner. does the fort still need a suspension upgrade kahit naba sinabi nila na upgraded na yun for a more better ride? if so edi upgrade nyo na lang po sir + dagdagan na lang ng ICE systems. meron nga ICE agad alterra pero if you're not satisfied eh ang tendency is maghahanap ka ng bago/upgrade. mas ok na po siguro ang isang bilihan na lang ng ICE systems kesa papalitan pa hehe. tsaka po yung a/c vents ng fort maganda na position

FORT for me, gud looks exterior wise nice interior good ride. not to mention good quality name. alterra seems awkward to me, poor exterior design, too baggy in general although nice interior pero hindi sya proportionate if you look closely. for me ha.......

Go for the Fort. Good exterior and interior + Good resale value. Top it up for being a "TOYOTA" and that is a real value for money.

Between the two? I'd go Fortuner 3.0 because of the Borg Warner fulltime 4WD. Suspension and ICE are easy to tweak.

mukang road eater yung front view ng fortuner. :ninja:tapos mas expressive na yung muka niya. bagay na bagay na yung punchline niyang: THE WORLD IS MINE!

yes i'd also go for the montero sport. but with your choices, i'd choose altera. comfortable ride, luxurious interior, more amenities/accessories inside. it just don't look that good but for me it doesn't look too bad either. just choose color red. its the most macho alterra i'v seen. plus with the red it doesn't look like a funeral car. and oh, i forgot. IT IS SO FUEL EFFICIENT.

but i heard the new fortuner comes with suspension upgrade. so i think it's not a bad buy after all. but i really suggest montero sport for you

What is so special about the Borg-Warner Full Time 4WD? Di ba delikado if you buy the Fort with te D4D engine because of the choking and hard-start problems ecountered by Toyota's D4D engines?

If hindi naman mag off road sayang lang yun four wheel drive.

Para hindi OT, I'd take the Fortuner anytime when compared to the Alterra. IMO panget talaga nung Alterra.

you said money is not an issue, but you want to focus only on the two choices... hmm...

what does "money is not an issue" mean exactly?? is it:

    A. you have the money to buy any car at any price??
    B. you are sticking on this price range but you can stretch it up to a few hundred thousand pesos??

    if it's A:
you want comfort, fuel efficiency, and overall performance, then go look for a higher caterogy...
    Mid-sized SUV: Mitsubishi Pajero 3.2 Di-D
Large SUV: Toyota Land Crusier 200 V8 D-4D
    Premium SUV: BMW X5 3.0d 7seater or Audi Q7 3.0TDi

    but if it's B:
go ask the family members and tally the votes which one do they want to ride, then you can have the answer. hindi ka naman magsisisi kung anu man pipiliin mo. for sure you will appreciate the vehicle kahit anu mang batikos ang marinig mo about it... they are both worth to own anyway...

I think ang ibig sabihin ng ts is, WAG NA NATIN ICOMPARE ANG PRICE nung dalawa dahil hindi naman sakanya issue yun. Ang gusto niya lang is, MAGFOCUS TAYO dun sa 2 choices.
