    Hi Tsikoteers,

I'm planning to get a new car next month. We're torn between Fort and Monty. I'm leaning towards the Fort but Mitsubishi is offering bigger discounts. Practicality wise, Montero gets my vote.

Halos pareho lang naman sila. Kung kayo ako, ano pipiliin nyo? My only concern about the Montero is, I've been reading a lot of hearsays that it tends to emit black smoke kahit bago pa sya. Although wala pa kong nakikipersonally sa daan na Montero na nag-eemit ng black smoke.

About sa suspension, mas comfortable ba ang Monty sa Fort? Nakasakay na ko sa Fort pero para sa kin ok lang sya. How about yung steering nila, alin ang mas magaan sa kanila?

I know there's a lot of comparo between the two cars. Dont have time magback thread, eh.

    Comments will be highly appreciated

Wag naman sana maging ganun. Ang point of comparison ko kasi is deal maker ba for Mitsu yung malaking discounts na binibigay nila. Enough reason ba yun para Monty ang kunin ko kesa Fort. Objective comments sana ang maging response

Gusto ko yung Fort. Close second yung Monty.

The current Fort rides better than before. You won't really notice the difference to the Monty unless you're going over stomach-churning rough roads, in which case, the Monty will make you want to throw up a little less.

The Fort steers better and has less body roll in the corners. Better driving ergonomics (meaning the driving position is better). The Montero has more legroom in the third row, but the Fort's third row has better cushioning.

In most ways, patas lang sila. Monty is better at some things, Fort is better at others. The decision of which to buy may come down to whether you think the ridiculous 178 hp of the Montero GLS-V (34 big horses more than the Toyota) is a deal-breaker.

Also consider the Trailblazer. More refinement than either of the others, and the ride is much better.

but i would suggest you get the fortuner. mas gusto mo ata ang fortuner e. buy what you really want

Unlike GTV and gls v; wood design, beige leather seats, and engine/transmission.

I'll pick the fortuner 2.5g although we have a monty gls se.

    -Mabigat steering ng monty
    -less bodyroll ang fort
    - mas pogi ung fort sa monty

The Monty usually wins in the value for money stakes. For long term ownership though, i usually have more bias to the longevity of the Toyota bits and pieces vis-a-vis Mitsubishi, given my experience in owning both brands through the years. On the crash worthiness though i think the Monty fares better against the Fortuner.

We bought a couple of Monty Sports for the office just last week. The deciding factor was the price really as the alloted budget could only spring for the 2.7 VVti; if not it would have been a two Fortuner deal instead to go with the two Hilux and two Innova D4ds we also got.

In the end, go where your heart is.

fort. upgraded na naman yun engine ng 2.5G parehas na halos ng torque ng monty and V variant ng fort. and in city driving mas magaan dalhin yun fort. mas immediate yun arangkada. Yung TB naman parang may mali sa design nya parang makitid masyado?. the rear section looks out of place with the whole car especially yun design ng rear glass. It just looks awkward.

I like the styling of the Fortuner better, although I believe it's hard to discount the output of the Montero Sport. The power upgrade on the 2.5 Fortuner was a good bump up, though it pales in comparison with the Montero's. Just gotta see how much power you really need.

yung Fort, 4 speed AT until now wala pang manumatic (6 speed na yung mga bagong labas). Monty 5 speed AT with sportronic paddle shifters.

yung Fort, 3rd row seats folding up/side wards like the old Lite Ace pa. Halos lahat folding flat sa floor na. little things that will make you choose the Monty, aside from the Big Discount (na pwede mo gamitin pang accessories).

The Fortuner has more usable power, at low speeds, the Fort is definitely more responsive. The Montero has more top-end oomph though, but if the car will be used mainly in the city, you probably won't be able to enjoy the top-end power...But the ultimate choice is up to you
