Need your help and expert opinions.

What's the best budget (ie <1.2M) SUV in the market today?

in terms of:
1. Fuel Economy.
2. Looks.
3. Ride.
4. Performance.

Thanks a lot.

I would say the Hyundai Tucson for less than P1.2M since you get a nice diesel engine, a nice comfortable ride and a pretty spacious 3rd row for cargo. That is if you want strictly SUV with a price strictly less than P1.2M

How would that compare to Kia Sportage, Nissan X-Trail, Mazda Tribute, Ford Escape? (or if we increase budget to 1.3M then also Honda CRV or Suzuki Grand Vitara? (hehe sorry if I made the list a little bit longer.))

Ah now if you increase it to P1.3M CR-V na ako this is one of the smoothest SUV in the market right now since its a Civic based crossover. I normally favor diesel in SUV's though because of the torque (which is IMO more important than horses for SUV's) and better fuel economy. I will let others add to the discussion how all those stack up. Personalky and thgis is only my opinion I would cross out the Mazda Tribute and Ford Escape since malakas sa gas. X-trail naman luma na sobra. So para sakin its either CR-V (my pick) for its smooth ride, Hyundia Tucson for its fruaglity and Sportage more or less the same with Tucson since pareho namang may CRDi option.

Too bad, then, that the CR-V 2.2L i-CTDI variant isn't being offered here at present.

But if it were, it might not qualify as a budget option at almost 1.5M plus tax.

at 1.2M < budget, ilan lang ang pasok?

a) Escape
b) Tucson
c) X-Trail

among the three choices, i would go for the Tucson CDRi. no more explanations needed, its a CRDi.....

I think no one suggested it because (at least for most people) its ugly. Ang weird talaga ng design ng SsangYong. Personally, you wouldn't catch me driving one unless I have a paper bag covering my head Peace to SsangYong owners.

The benefit of CRDI VGT over petrol is power. LOTS of power.

Add to that, the benefits of diesel efficiency.

probably we don't see too much of it on the road... the more we see it, the more people will recall, know more about it to see if it is worth recommending. Yes sir tidus, i agree with you with its weirdness and it is very unlikely for me to own one as well... :peace:

sana lumabas na yung mitsubishi concept-cX! otherwise, i think the tucson will do for now...

i know this sounds off-tangent: TRY THIS: Strada 2.5 GLS 4x4- P1,090,000 + carryboy canopy- approx. 70-80k can make a good SUV substitute!!!

Wonderful idea!!!......if you are considering an SUV (or a sport utility truck as one ad may claim) in its true sense of the word...not those car-based road queen crossovers.

1. you still get a 5-seater utility vehicle
2. larger cargo hold at the back
3. 4x4 capability which you cannot get at this price range for SUV (except the Jimny)
4. spacious than the all the CUVs in the market

Perhaps the other option to achieve these features is to own the first-gen Montero Sport (5-seater, 4x4, diesel SUV)...which you can get pre-owned.

OK lang pre. Mura lang naman ang paper bag kumpara sa value na nakukuha namin sa Ssangyong.

Budget SUV? I'd go for the Forester 2.0X. I would've gone for something else a few months back. But the Foz's moonroof, AWD, and Subby rep at a budget price are just too hard to ignore.

AFAIK, the foz is the only one with a moonroof. The Foz, the Actyon, and maybe the Jimny are also the only ones with AWD/4WD at the budget level.
