Already sold my car and I'm deciding on what model to get. these are my choices:
Honda Civic 1.6 Vti M/T
Mazda3 1.6 S
What I like about the civic is its new headlamp design and its vtec3 engine.. (low fule consumption n 130hp) looks so nice in white..
M just not sure if its the right time to get one cause the 8th gen might pop up in a few months time...
On the other hand, the mazda3 looks so "pogi".love the headlamp design, interior, the whole design itself.. but it doesnt come with a manual tranny, its engine only churns out 105ps.. some say that its a gas guzzler because of its heavy curb weight..
So guys i need ur opinion on this... Its really givin me a hard time.. its so hard to decide!!
the weakness of the Mazda3 1.6L is its engine / weight. this may be cured by the 2.0L variant but that might not be within your budget. for city driving - this might not be that be a big factor though.
on the other hand, this is the perceived strongpoint of the Honda Civic. however, the Civic just looks dated and boring.
Did you guys watch the test drive of the Mazda3 on BBC's Top Gear? It was a Mazda3 hatchback (which should be the same as what we have here except for the trunk). Anyway, it was compared against 3 other cars in the same class and price range: the Opel Astra hatchback, Renault Megane, and VW Golf (the Golf was the host's choice--because of its excellent resale value, sporty drive, and reliability track record).
The verdict on the Mazda3 was that it's good value for money, in that at a lower price you got all the goods (at least in UK), BUT the interior felt cheap. In fact I remember the exact words used by the host while driving the Mazda3: "What's the OPPOSITE word for PREMIUM? Because that's exactly how this car feels!". He pointed out the Night Rider-like red lights that blink on the dash when you turn on something (radio i think). hehe.
Of course he was comparing it to 3 european cars. As against the Civic, I really have no idea. But I agree with everyone here, the Mazda 3 is one damn good looking car! Napapalingon ako sa traffic.
The civic is such a practical, no nonsense car. But my choice is the Mazda3, for the extra 'excitement' it generates.

looks pa lang i'd choose the mazda 3. the 1.6 variant actually has more torque at 145nm than the civic, so i think it's more fun to drive plus all the cool stuff inside it.
Mazda 3 na lang. Although the 1.6 is weak compared to the civic 1.6 tapos matic pa the civic only wins the the engine department.
With the mazda3 ibang klase na. Interior pa lang parang BMW 3 series or european car yung feel nya. Sa civic kakasawa na din interior. With the mazda 3 stock pa lang wala ka na masyado babaguhin
Civic is my choice...known for reliability and after sales service....
Sa ngayon Mazda 3 is a hit dahil bago at magandang porma.....We cannot depend on porma alone... that is why i will go for a tested one! that is a Honda car!
Tama! Mazda 3 is a Damn good car ! Interior/exterior
Is the 1.6 variant has already a moon roof?
Anyways, i read couple of magazine road & track etc... and they always say its a really good car!
And in the engine its just a small difference i think. bec. its just d same displacement and because of the new design of the engine of mazda. and i think more fuel economy.
and to think there are so many civic's in the road nakakasuka na!
if you want reliability, go for the civic, although i can't say at this point if the mazda3 will prove to be reliable because the car is still young.
if you want good looks and good features, the mazda3 gets my vote. (i have a weakness for moonroofs)
ayaw mo ng ford lynx rs? hehe... yun talaga da best value car para sakin, may moonroof & has good engine specs. pero dun sa choices mo, go for mazda 3! ^_^
