that article is based in the states right? that's why the lancer is in there, americans really hate mitsubishi and i have no idea why.
Ferrari California?
REALLY?????
I can name a bunch of shittier convertibles
And they have these cases of hiding defects which further damaged their reputation. Suzuki also had to pull out of the North American Market because of lousy sales network
You're most probably correct bro. since you said you lived there and knows the local car industry (obviously) better, while I only visit the area every so often and get to talk only to a handful of people every time I was there(limited information). But I heard this from at least a couple of individuals.
(Although, you said earlier that you have no idea why.... anyway)
But come to think of it,- Toyota, Honda and Nissan are there,- but why Mitsubishi??? (in spite of its alliance for a while with DaimlerChrysler)....

i said i have no idea why because i've never owned a mitsu in the states, but from driving a friends lancer gt-a it seems that build quality is ok naman so i have no idea why the americans are saying that the build quality is poor. the lancers build quality isn't top notch but it isn't poor either. after sales service is terrible though based on feedbacks from pretty much every american mitsubishi owner.
Base engine of the Lancer in the US is a 2.0L engine. Upsize is the 2.4L shared with the previous Outlander. Anyway, I don't totally agree with the article. It still depends on the market. Here, the Lancer is still one of the best compact buys so far as the base models are concerned.
Here's the explanation of the article why the 2014 Lancer is the worst compact sedan. The article called out the less aggressive styling of the lower variant, which for me is understandable, ergo, lower variants. Next is the interior made of cheap hard plastic but I don't understand how the seats became insufficiently adjustable. I don't understand how the 2.0L base engine is thrashy and how the CVT produces more noise.
I agree with the last sentence especially comparing it to the technology of the Ford Focus. Mitsubishi needs to release the next generation Lancer. Or can this article simply trying to tell the manufacturer that we are waiting for the Evo XI?
Worst Compact Sedan - 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer: With Toyota's recent radical overhaul of its best-selling but thoroughly crummy Corolla, the Mitsubishi Lancer finds itself alone at the bottom. Though its edgy shape and shark-inspired nose look fierce when gussied up on the Evolution X, the volume-selling regular Lancer's small steel wheels, less aggressive styling and single exhaust transform this compact sedan from rally champ to rental chump.
If anything, however, styling is actually the Lancer's best attribute. The cabin is burdened with an uninspiring design, cheap hard plastic, a tilt-only steering wheel and insufficiently adjustable seats. The base engine is thrashy, gutless and less efficient than its competitors, while the optional continuously variable transmission (CVT) saps power and produces noises more typically associated with calf-bearing bovines. The optional engine is more powerful and can be equipped with all-wheel drive, but its fuel economy remains subpar.
The Lancer's biggest problem, though, is a result of its advanced age in a segment that's progressing rapidly in recent years
it probably depends on,... what other choices you have in the market. if you can count the competing models with one hand....
the japs don't mind.. they know who makes the most dependable cars on the planet..
my 86 centavos' worth..
I don't think that this could satisfy them either, if ever. LOL!

Actually guys it's not just because Americans hate Mitsu. In fact many countries share the same sentiments about mitsu. They are even considered an "ailing" Japanese car maker. But here locally it is the other way around, mitsu goes head to head with toyo.
Kinda weird if you think about it. Mitsu is huge here, while Nissan the num. 2 Japanese car maker in the world is not. ;) Well Nissan Japan is now taking over locally so let's see...
How about the only modern car to be rated one of THE WORST CAR Of ALL TIME.
Proves the US hate Mitsus...

3. 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage: Our original list had the 1955 BMW Isetta in third place, but Huffman said he has a better candidate.
The 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage belongs in Isetta's spot, he said. "It drives terribly, rides terribly and it's noisy. My son is 11 and he hates it too, because it has too little legroom for an 11-year-old. Nobody likes it."
The car, which is made in Thailand, has a tiny, 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine. That assures good fuel mileage, which Mitsubishi quantifies at 44 miles per gallon, but it also means that the car is not powerful.
In a January review of the 2014 Mirage for autoblog.com, Steven Ewing reached a conclusion similar to Huffman's. "If there's one thing Mitsubishi could use here in the States, it's good, fresh product to bring people back into its showrooms," Ewing wrote. "The Mirage's attractive price point will likely get the attention of the budget-minded set, but it's still not the best deal you can get. And while the Mirage did briefly hold the title of being America's most fuel-efficient non-hybrid, the 1.0-liter Ford Fiesta now bests it.
"It's a shame the Mirage is such a dud," Ewing said.

Ang arte naman.
Seriously... the Mirage is worse than... *breathes in* ...the Chery QQ, the Daewoo Matiz, every single pre-2010's Chinese small car (or Chinese car for that matter), the FRICKIN-SUZUKI-X90!?!, the Chevette/Kadet/Gemini (which, in America, was horrible because union workers ****ed around on the line with those cars), the Hyundai Excel (which was so unreliable it almost killed Hyundai in America), the Chevy Cavalier, the Jeep Compass, the car-that-rust-never-forgot Alfasud, the Bricklin SV1, the AMC Gremlin, the Triumph TR7 (blech) and even the Chevrolet Aveo? Really?
Interesting to note that while the top ten list was by vote and deliberation, a single writer was responsible for inserting the Mirage. Just because he doesn't like the way it drives (I've driven lots worse).
It's not the greatest car to drive, but neither is the first-gen Insight. And like the Insight, it's an amazing achievement in ultra-lightweight engineering and engine design for economy. The Ecoboost might beat it on the EPA test... but in the real world, they're neck-in-neck on sites like Fuelly.com:

Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
