*frenchtower- it is just a statement ok? "kaya lexus". it is an "upgraded toyota". like the gx470 is just an upgraded prado
im familiar with some US car brands since my uncle has a lexus in the US. In guam where i have some relatives puro lexus dun. infiniti ok ok lang. wala benz pero may bmw sa market. guam is still part of US kahit territory lang fyi. i hope satisfied ka sa sagot ko ah pero of course it varies sa bawat state sa US
we should demand to our "esteemed" and "decent" law makers that the taxes imposed to be amended to make it more affordable.
Yup,- sobra-sobra-sobra ang tax e....
Plus,- cartel sa mga dealerships....
“Familiarity breeds awe”

Your overstatement may be construed as absolute facts by some innocent forummers despite the obvious theme.
Let's use your logic. So if my family in PH mostly owns a Samsung smartphone then most of the entire PH owns one? LOL
With regards to Guam, that is a very small part of the US to be used as a statistical sample to represent all the pinoys in the US.
Also, your sarcasm is uncalled for.
On your last statement, again do not express something like this if you can't show proof! :-)

Magandang tanungin nito ay yung may mga kamag-anak sa automobile business. My guess kaya mas mahal ay making overhead cost sa tax at lagay sa government people para di maipit releasing ng imported cars.
Tax tax tax.$25k is boosted by taxes up to 1.5m here. $40k goes to 3m.
That's why we were all puzzled as to the 2.35m introductory price of the $40k Explorer Limited had us scratching our heads.because that's negative profit margins for the local distributor. At the current price of 2.5m, it's profitable, but margins are razor thin unless they get all customers to do in-house financing.
That is probably the angle of Toyota, as well, with the 86. Though officially, they don't condone price gouging with accessories.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
*niky and the thread starter - yup taxes and duties when it comes to BRAND NEW vehicle plus the GREED of the local franchiser which would only give you the minimum spec and not the standard spec so they can secure a skyrocket profit(one example is the local suzuki sx4)
HOWEVER how come pati mga SECOND HAND USED CAR MAHAL unlike in the u.s. where a 3 - 5 year old expedition would only cost you 300 - 500 u.s. $ bucks roughly same price of a mid spec laptop??? even a freakishly old KOREA imported van her cost 110,000-180,000 PhP and dont even get me started on those secondhand import from port irene and subic- SAME CASE AS IN THE BRAND NEW GARAPAL ANG MGA OWNERS AT GUSTO PA PAGKAKITAAN ANG MGA KARAG KARAG NA AUTO nila kahit 10 YEAR OR MORE NA
Haha... I have friends over there who buy and sell, and you still need $2k for twenty year old SUVs like that.
A five year old Expe goes for over $20k in the US.
For $500, yoi can MAYBE get a 1990 Sentra that's half rust and half primer.
Mind you, you can get relatively new cars at auction for very low prices. Maybe ten year old Luminas can go for $500, but those are auction cars with over 200k miles on the odometer.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Suzuki's hands are tied by the fact it imports most of its cars from India and Japan. Notice how Mitsubishi can undercut Suzuki, Kia and Hyundai with the Mirage? Thai built Mirage gets zero added tax.
Why not bring them in from Thailand? Volume. If there's not enough volume, some manufacturers will not build LHD cars in their RHD plants. which is also why we won't get the Brio.

Secondhand. You expect customers to lose even more money than the 50-70% hit they get in depreciation? Secondhand prices are tied to brand new prices, whatever the product, whatever the market.

boss vic just wanna ask lang. say a 5 year old honda civic fd could be fetch this days at around 300-400k, sabihin natin meron ka rin civic fd at around 5 years din in pristine condition, no dents, nice paint, well maintained and was never involved in an accident, would you sell it for 200k? curious langpeace
I travel around Asia very often and my observation is, apart from European brands, Philippine car prices are already among the cheapest in the region.
So I think there's nothing really to complain about.
