i believe this second option significantly simplifies the paperwork.
plus, they probably are more amenable to significant discount.
and they probably know more about the car's condition that you can ask about, than the banks.
i have had experience, buying from real owners.
it was a satisfying social experience.

i prefer folks who make you come to their residence, and not meet you at the gas station or in dyalibi.
