    Good Morning,

We are planning to buy a sedan or SUV. We need a Comfortable, fuel efficient and spacious car for everyday.
    I'm eyeing the Nissan Sylphy,Toyota Altis , Isuzu Mu-x.
I already crossed out the mazda 3 since the review says it has a cramped 2nd row seats
Budget is aroung 900k- 1.4 million
    Thanks tsikot

Whenever budget permits, I would always go for a diesel powered CUV or SUV.
I believe these are better suited for local road conditions.
The montero fits all your requirements.
And based on the number of montero owners on the road, I know many share my sentiment.

Thanks! the montero is a bargain and value for money, but there are too many monteros out there and I heard the new Montero is just out of the corner

There might still be some units left of the Kia Sorento LX FWD CRDi (5-seater) in some dealers. It is priced at around 1.3M before. It offers ample interior space and a potent 2.2L CRDi engine (same as the Santa Fe). If you prefer ladder-frame SUVs, the 4x2 models of the MS/MU-X/Fort/TB/Everest are all within your budget. If you prefer a petrol-powered CUV that can seat 5 adults and 2 kids, the new Nissan Xtrail 4x2 is priced around 1.3M.

If you really want a comfortable ride for 1.4M, then go midsize with a Kia Optima. It may not be that fuel efficient but no compact or CUV or ladder-frame SUV will beat the ride and comfort of a midsize car.

How many will you be usually carrying?

The Altis is spacious enough for 5, and it's definitely comfortable and fuel efficient. At 1M for the V variant, it fits your budget perfectly without having to stretch it. I generally believe that you should go for the cheapest car that fits your needs and wants.

Even if a Fortuner/Montero is more fuel efficient (it isn't - they both just get 8-9 km/L in city driving, but diesel is cheaper), it still costs several hundred thousand more than the Altis. Unless you need the ruggedness of a ladder-frame SUV, then it's not worth it. A Montero/Fort is definitely a better all-rounder, but since you already have several SUVs, a sedan will be more comfortable extra ride.

    That's nice bro
The mazda 3 is the most sporty and has the best handling in the compact sedan market these days! have you seen the 2nd row is it really cramped?
Can you tell what is Yojin 3 about meaning ba free maintenace for 3yrs or 60k kms?
The Hr-v is nice too but it is basically a raised jazz

Yep free PMS after 1 month then 5 months then every 6 months thereafter. In mileage it's after 1k kms then every 10k thereafter. They're pretty strict with the schedule. If lumagpas ang mileage or date mo bayad ka na. On my second PMS nasa 6k pa lang mileage ko but I still had to bring it in.

    Thanks bro jut!
Around 4 on weekends and it will be driver driven on weekdays.
What is the FC of your altis, does it come with a touchscreen HU?
For the Altis I think the 1.6 g m/t is worth it already * 879k pesos

My last 3 city drive fillups clocked in 9.80, 8.33, and 8.47 km/L. That's mostly short trips in rush hour traffic. I also have 18" rims so my FC should be worse than a stock Altis with only 16s.

No touch screen HU. If you'll get a touch screen HU, I'd recommend Growl Audio. Much easier to use than the crappy OEM touch screen HUs of Mitsu and Toyota.

They also had a price increase so SRP is now at 883k for the MT. Discounts are still around 30k so you can still get the car for 850k.

Of course, it's nowhere as flood-proof or pothole-proof as a Fortuner, but it's also much much cheaper. Weigh your needs and first establish if you need an SUV or not

9km/l is good pero is there any chance it will reach 12km/l on city driving like on our daily innova?

Nope. On the same route where your Innova can reach 12 km/L city driving, the Altis will probably do around 10-10.5.

Actually, I've driven several Innovas around the city and I've never gotten 12 km/L in pure city driving based on full tank method. Perhaps your route has very, very light traffic. The Altis will do 12 km/L in mixed driving.

Was just thinking about the Sylphy, and I guess aside from the silly name, another reason why it doesn't sell is because it goes head-on with the Altis, but can't out-Altis the Altis.

The Mz3 sells because it's an all-out sports compact. The Lancer sells because it's so cheap. The Civic has lost all its mojo but still outclasses the Sylphy by virtue of its brand.

But the Sylphy...it's priced slightly lower than the Altis yes, but most people already know that it'll have much lower resale value so at the end of the day it'll entail a higher net cost.

It's a spacious compact, but so is the Altis, which is miles ahead of its predecessor (which was very cramped in the back). Both can sit 5 comfortably with legroom to spare.

It's a comfy compact with good NVH, but so is the Altis. Both even sport the same classy beige color schemes inside.

Looks-wise, though the Altis is more common, it looks less generic than the Sylphy. While I like the Sylphy's classy profile, it's not something that would make you double-take. Plus the huge bum wasn't disguised very well, so it looks a bit like Babalu.

So what does the Sylphy offer that the Altis can't? Rear air vents? A 1.8 engine in a period where people want the smallest engine available that isn't underpowered? HID? Leather? All that pales in comparison to the brand equity of Toyota vs Nissan.

Some people are just in denial, Nissan brand really sucks here. Even Mitsubishi (which isn't that great either) is doing better.

And what is the FC of the 1.6 cvt. Puro 1.8 cvt mga reviews online eh
If you think a 1.6L engine rated at 116hp/154Nm is underpowered for something like 1200kg, the Altis 1.6V (same weight) has a 1.6L engine rated at 122hp/154Nm while the Mazda3 1.5V (same weight) is only rated at 112hp/144Nm. I guess most compact cars with engines of 1.6L-1.8L displacements are about the same in power-to-weight ratios nowadays with the Civic 1.8S providing the best figures in such a category (141hp/173Nm). However, somebody wrote in TopGearPH that for such cars, the tranny gearing plays a big factor in how power is delivered so it is a must to test drive such cars to find out which suits your driving style best.

Yulon did a great job ruining the Nissan brand name out here in the country. While the US and Japan get a lot of cool Nissan/Infiniti models, we were stuck with lame models for more than a decade. Let's hope Nissan Japan (now managing RP) will do a better job of rebuilding the Nissan brand name locally.

I agree! I never liked Nissan.
    I prefer Toyota and Mazda.
