Kia is offering huge discounts on the Sportage. You might want to consider it

but there were no parts to buy!
ford phils had just pulled out of the country.
wala pang lazada or shoppee noon, and certainly no consumer internet.

one day, during my weekend forays for parts, the shopkeeper had finished saying the now-familiar "wala po" to me,
he turned to the next costumer, listened to the part needed, and replied,
"original o taiwan? harap o likod? kaliwa o kanan? ilan gusto mo?"

then and there, i swore that my next car won't have parts issues.

Mmm not really. They're basically the same as any other Japanese cars. Extremely easy to DIY too.
Things might only start getting complicated when doing major repairs with the boxer engine.

Mine's a 10 year old Subaru. In my experience problems are mostly just noisy suspension due to worn bushings which was easily fixable.

Won't recommend Subaru. Some have had luck with the brand pero personally I won't fully recommend it.

Our gen2 XV's cruise control crashes consistently. Sometimes it crashes after 45 mins, sometimes after 2 hours. Doesn't matter whether it's crawling in traffic or on a highway. Several MI visits turned up nothing on their scans. I asked if the VIN is covered by the brake switch recall and they said it's not and I have to pay for the replacement myself.

The evaporator failed after 3 years/ 18,000 kilometers. When I brought it to a 3rd party shop there were two other N-plated Foresters there for compressor replacements. My brother-in-law's evaporator and condenser were also replaced within 3 years of ownership.

Fluid changes are more expensive since it's a CVT and has a separate diff fluid for the rear.

And after all this time they still don't have stock speed-sensing door locks.

Think way outside the box. Get a Prado 120...right within the budget. They live forever. Lotsa aftermarket support, too. Schizophrenic. Plush ageless mom-mobile on work days, able overlander on weekends. Across the Pacific, like its 80/LX450 big cousin, the 120-based GX470(w/ a petrol V8) has remained uber popular.[emoji4]screenshot_20210107-180510_facebook.jpg

    if they did that,
honda would probably have remained a motorcycle,
    and kia a bicycle maker.
and all toyotas, even the TOTLs, remain being pawis-everything instead of power-everything.
    heh heh.

we need competition, if our product is to improve.

    without reading the earlier posts...

I would stay away from the BR-V, Xpander (non-Cross), Avanza and HR-V -> a new model is coming/already available overseas.

I don't think there's a car sa market na di kaya umakyat ng Baguio... Yung 1.3L na big body 90's Corolla nga umaakyat noon...

Personally (my own criteria), I will look for a car na may...
    - DRL
    - Front and Rear Sensor
    - Cruise Control (kahit hindi adaptive)
    - Apple CarPlay (wireless is better)
    - CVT, DCT or 5A/T and above (no 4A/T)
    - reverse camera (or 360 camera)
    - hybrid system is a big plus

at its current price, if the new BR-V also comes with Honda's Sensing, it will be a very interesting option.

    For consideration are the following:

    a. Can be brand new, max is budget is 1.3M or second-hand (less than 5 years old) 800k max .
    b. Fits a family of 3 and a small dog.
    c. Will be the main vehicle. Can be used out of town twice a month.
    d. Has good ground clearance
    e. Has above-average trunk space when 2nd row seats are folded
    f. Has more than adequate power for Baguio trips with 4-5 adults and cargo.
    g. Moon-roof is a plus

I have watched and read reviews and I'm leaning towards the Ford Territory because of the features and pretty much future proof. I have also thought of the Geely Coolray but I'm concerned of the possibility that it might close shop 5-10 years from now. I know Ford is based on a Chinese car as well but at least Ford has a more solid market in the PH. I am struggling to look for choices for second-hand crossover choices as well hope you guys can help out.

honda HR-V. satisfies all requirements, especially "e". it's the ULT (magic) seats like on the jazz.

I would choose a 3-year old CRV over a brand new Territory for the same price.

At the end of 5 years, you have a 5 year old Territory and an 8 year old CRV. Just compare a 5 year old Ecosport vs an 8 year old CRV today and you’ll easily see which vehicle aged better.

Gas consumption is about par with a Territory since its 1.5 turbo isn’t exactly efficient either. Our 2.0 CRV gets about 6-7 km/L in heavy traffic, 8-9 km/L in moderate traffic, and around 13-15 km/L on the highway.

    product reliability and longevity.
some buyers decide on what's offered in the showroom.
other buyers decide on the perceived scenario, several years down the road of ownership.

Well, misconception din na just because its a Toyota, parts are easy to source.
Partially true, siguro in comparison to other makers perhaps (whether Japanese, Korean, US, China, etc.)

But if its a Vios or Avanza... I'm pretty sure you'll find the part you need one way or another.
They don't make `em taxis for no reason

    heh heh.

but there is one scenario i can envision, wherein everyone, even the most jaded automotive matapobre, will welcome a vios.

even the Americans chose what's like here in the PH..

Toyota overtakes GM as the best-selling automaker in US -AUTOINDUSTRIYA

Leading the way was the RAV4 which saw Toyota deliver a total of 407,739 units to customers in the US. This is surprising considering Toyota sold fewer RAV4s compared to 2020 when they were able to sell 430,387 units.
