Do I Need to Buy a Second Car?

Hi guys! I bought my brand new Gen 3 Everest back in May of last year, and I have been using it daily since it is my only car. Right now my odometer reading is at 58k kilometers and I am fearing that once my Everest reached 100k kilometers major problems with the CRDI engine might occur. And because of that fear, I am now thinking of buying a second car to prolong the life of my Everest.

Is it wise to buy a second car?

my opinion is no. just use your everest. when you reach 100k, then you may just want to replace a brand new

wag no boss, kung ikaw lang naman kasi gumagamit masasayang lang,, tsaka kahit umabot pa ng 100k ang odometer mo kung maalaga ka naman sa sasakyan hindi naman basta basta masisira yan
at kung sakali dalawa sasakyan mo, sa rehistro pa lang ambigat

Alternative car is not all about practicality, it is also about "not getting stock" in the middle of something.
If you have enough money to spend, then why not!?

I would only consider getting a new one if I foresee the accumulative cost of repair within 5 years, excluding standard preventive maintenance, would be equivalent to 50% of the cost of buying a brand new one or If the cost of repair would would be close to the cost of a new car,

58k km in 18 months, so using simple math, thats almost 3200km per month, sulit na sulit kotse mo,

like what another poster said, if budget is not an issue, go ahead

but if it is, you may want to reconsider esp if you plan to get a bnew car, because it will mean another set of similar expenses, bank interests (if its on loan), insurance, maintenance, depreciation etc etc

again if budget to cover these wont bother you that much, then go. buy that second car

Kung kaya naman why not..actually ang naisip ko is not abt your mileage..para naman maiba, driving all those kms in one car is like.....wow nakaksawa

Get a small sedan or your toy car ika nga...honda jazz, swift etc, para may variety ka naman..may choice ka depende sa mood mo sa araw na yon.

I am in awe at how much you drive! You probably drive more in a week than most of us drive in a month!

If you have the money, I'd suggest you get a backup car. Something you can use when the Everest goes in for repairs, during coding days, or something interesting and new to drive on the weekends. Make it so that this car has the qualities that you find lacking in the Everest para talagang maiba.

Mukhang taga province ka naman so walang coding. Huwag ka na bumili if lumabas na mga sira benta mo na and replace it with another brand new vehicle. If wala lang coding dito Sa Manila I'll sell my two extra vehicles and make do with just one.

*oliver1013 yes, talagang nakakasawa to drive just one car in 18 months and to think that the ride of the Everest is not on the comfortable side. Ang masasabi ko lang is totoo na ang Everest ay "built like a tank but rides like a horse".

My choices for the 2nd car:

Ford Fiesta 1.6 Sport+ - 859k (The white one is really a looker! Plus naka leather seats na sya and very high tech ang interior!)

Ford Focus 1.6 Trend - 989k (No local reviews yet pero gandang ganda ako inside and out sa kanya.)

Lancer EX 1.6 Mx - 930k (HID na ang headlights with GPS navigation pa! FC is really really good.)

Toyota Altis 1.6 V - 960k (Very Very comfortable but boring as hell to drive to some tsikoters here.)

Suzuki SX4 Crossover - 899k (Crossover ba talaga ito? Is it Suzuki's little equivalent of the Tucson, ASX, Sportage, XV roaming our streets?)

Suzuki Jimny 1.3 JLX - 815k (Baby Everest ang tingin ko dito and subok na matibay according to the Jimny forum here.)


Dami choices pero isa lang naman ang pede bilhin... Nakakalito talaga...

Madali sana kumuha ng kotse dahil okay na ako sa mga banks The hard part is to get the "Go" signal of my wife.....

i assume ang layo ng house niyo sa office niyo, getting that average mileage monthly,

ok ang fiesta, ford user naman po kayo, when it comes to FC and for daily driver i'll choose lancer EX. good luck to your 2nd car

How exactly do you define boring with the Altis? Unless you take the car to mountain passes or race tracks, it's not any less exciting than other cars in its class. It is, however, more comfortable and more fuel efficient than most compacts. It'd complement the bone-jarring ride of your Everest, and it's certainly the most comfortable among your choices.

That said, I still think you should just stick with one car. You'll still end up spending more by buying a second car. Even if you have to replace the injectors of your Everest, that's still nowhere near the 900k you'll be shelling out by buying na new car. And we're not even talking about the maintenance of two cars yet.

So, back to the question, do you need a second car? I think not. But if you want one, then get one.

I think you need to buy a house somewhere nearer to your often place of travel. 58k a year means you travel far every effin day

spare yourself stress, physical fatigue and time too.

Wag na yung Suzuki. Matibay talaga pero, depending on your location, medyo konti ang dealer network. Besides, ang tagtag ng Jimny! I'd suggest you consider the Kia Soul as well. Standout talaga among the rest at mas maraming space than the typical sedan. Kumportable din naman at matipid pa. Not to mention that Kia is giving big discounts for the Christmas season.

you buy a second car... you just double your potential headaches. stick to one.
unless you need a coding car.., or your first car really starts developing problems. but until then, stick to one car.
