    Chief jewelz,

I think the best and reliable cars within your budget range would be the Corolla small body and the Sentra B13. These cars if properly handled by the previous owner would still perform well, plus, parts are still abundant and easy to maintain.

also wanted to share that when i was on the lookout for my first 4-wheel ride. i had about the same budget as yours - around 60k in 2007. we went looking initially for an owner type jeep sa cavite. then when we were window shopping, we stumbled on multicabs offered on sale sa may imus. my brother persuaded me to take the multicab instead of the owner. it costs 120k and he helped me finance the balance plus 20k for my accessories. the surplus seller is willing to give the aircon components for free pero ako na bahala magpakabit. rusco also offeres financing on their multicabs nga pala.

maybe you can convince your folks to load you that "extra" amount. or kung nagaaral ka pa, ma-maintain mo lang yung makukuha mo in running condition muna and start improving/upgrading it pag nagka-work ka na.

good luck and keep us posted.

    Hello din po.

I was also thinking of buying a car for the same budget. After around a month of two of looking at sulit and ayosdito, the most common cars for that price are:

    -Nissan LEC
    -Mitsubishi Galant
    -Mitsubishi Lancer
    -Daihatsu Charade
    -Kia Pride

Which do you think is the best option? My primary use for the car is to go to work, and the occasional trips (isa, dalawang beses sa isang buwan) from QC to Batangas, La Union, Pangasinan, etc; and probably fetch family and relatives at the airport, twice a year siguro. What I think I would need from the car I would purchase are:

-fuel economy.
Our apartment doesn't have parking space, so I would park the car on the street
-madaling ipaayos at bilhan ng pyesa
    -power windows

    1. Tama po bang mga 9-11 km/L combined yung Nissan LEC, Galant, at Lancer, yung Charade at Pride e 13-15 km/L combined?
    4. Tama po bang mas OK kung within QC and nearby cities yung bibilhan ko ng kotse?
Hehe

Nissan LEC would be the best choice. It has been produced uptil model year 1998, so parts are much more widely available compared to the other choices which may have an already dwindling parts supply. A relative of ours has one and I've driven it myself. It is fuel efficient as long as you make sure the engine is properly calibrated and the carburetor is always clean. Being the base variant, of course it has no power windows. The LEC-PS variant which I had driven has power locks and steering. Not sure with the LEC variant. But then there are aftermarket power windows available and perhaps you can also find surplus original B13 power windows if you are lucky. As for the sound system, that should be easy enough. Just get a new 1-DIN audio system with USB and aux-in. 3-4k should get you a very decent unit.

Online ads are OK, galing duon Santa Fe at 10-wheeler Giga namin. Just take more caution and bring a mechanic with you. It doesn't matter where you buy the car, there are good car owners everywhere! Yung Giga namin binili sa Dagupan, by the way. Dun kasi sa QC ang Banawe, where you can get all your parts and accessories.

an officemate of mine bought a kia pride for 40k, and spent 20k on repairs, yun nga lang di langs a 20k natatapos ang repair, every now and then nangangailangang palitan ang ilang parts.it helps that her father and brother are car mechanics.

Thank you po sa feedback :D

:D so even if I purchase a '92 LEC, I wouldn't have too much of a hard time finding parts?

Kakasya sila lahat! Baka gusto mo pa mag engine swap ng 1.6L in the future.

Mura lang naman ang maintenance, let's say around 3000 pesos or less for routine maintenance on each session. Although syempre every now and then may papalitan kang malaki like suspension parts or tires.

Agree with GTi, depende sa mileage ng kotse magiging maintenance mo. Wear and tear kasi ang kalaban mo. Better have a trusted mechanic with when looking for a car. I would assume na most cars na for sale in that age is quite neglected na rin.

Tsaka as what most tsikot members advise here, allocate at least 20k para maintenance mo once makuha mo yung sasakyan (oil change, brake cleaning/change. etc).

    Goodluck on your car hunting.
