A friend of a friend mentioned that there has been some back-channel discussions to delay this further or outright lobby against it.

Can anyone confirm if this is true?

hindi naman matutuloy yan excise tax na yan, why eh uconstitutional yan eh. the only reason why it's getting the hype is because the car manufacturers themselves are in collusion with the car media to brainwash everybody na makakakuha na ngaun. pati yun tig 5M na Toyota Land Cruiser nag-panic buying na hahah. kawawang materyosong mga Juan. oh well, it's worth naman for people to buy cars today that they still don't need. it helps the GDP and the credit ratings.

    Eh.

We get the exact same news you do from the DOF.

We report the facts as they come.

It's the dealerships that are helping fuel the panic.

    -

So far, the bill is on schedule for a 2018 implementation.

The Senate has watered it down a bit. But it's still a huge leap for luxury cars. Which is why luxury buyers are still panic-buying Land Cruisers.

if the leap from 8K a month to 10K a month is too tight for you, i shall hazard to say that you are not ready to buy a new car.
consider instead, a used car that is in good condition.

Agreed. If you have good credit you can easily get a good 2nd hand cars even via loan on places like Pasig Car Mall near ULTRA they even have an onsite BDO loan application reception.
