How sure is this to happen? Those who buy cars this year are lucky coz next year, good luck sa ating lahat. I wonder if the cars in the article are among the top sellers in the country.

May naka usap akong government official. Forgot what agency na. Sabi nya hindi daw matutuloy yang excise tax next year. Kasi pag natuloy daw yan mag boycott daw ang mga luxury car makers like bmw, benz. Wala na bibili sa kanila sa sobrang taas ng price.

    according to a lawyer,
reservation fee is just that. it alludes in no manner to the final price.
down payment means, sold na yung unit. as such, the final acquisition price and the payment schedule, are already written on paper, and unless stipulated, frozen thruout the process of purchasing.

A friend of a friend mentioned that there has been some back-channel discussions to delay this further or outright lobby against it.

Can anyone confirm if this is true?

If the owner agrees NOT to be reimbursed for DP and the DP is at least 20%, that should take care of the depreciation.

    from Senator JVE:

WE MAY NOT NEED TRAIN WITH IMPROVED BOC and BIR COLLECTION

WE may not need, after all, the proposed TRAIN (Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion), which seeks to increase taxes on certain strategic items like petroleum products and impose new ones like the levy on sugar-sweetened beverages, which are basic consumer commodities,

I consider it as a strong argument against the TRAIN, the recent developments wherein the BOC (Bureau of Customs) collected P42-billion worth of import duties and taxes last October, the highest take in a month in the bureau’s history, and the BIR (Bureau of Internal Revenue) netting over P138 billion in September, which was higher than its P130.12 billion goal for the month.

This means we can raise revenues even without increasing taxes or imposing new ones.

I also commend the BOC for successfully confiscating undervalued luxury cars at the MICP (Manila International Container Port) worth P107 million.

I believe this could also be done with improved BIR collection as we follow up their shortfalls and targets. If we will only improve our taxes and duties collections and also tighten the noose on smugglers through a serious and sustained anti-smuggling campaign, which we definitely can, we will be able to generate the revenues that we need. So, hindi na natin kailangan pa ang TRAIN.

I have been calling the government’s economic managers to rethink and review their position on the TRAIN because, as I have said, it will severely impact the poor. I am worried of TRAIN's inflationary effect . This will have a direct hit on everyone.

I am an ally of the administration but I also have the duty to look after the interest of the Filipino people who gave me that mandate.

With the BIR and the BOC coming up with impressive numbers, I hope they will listen to this proposal now. Just want to make sure that the proposed tax reform will not be much of a burden to everyone.
