If considering the MG ZS, I would suggest the Geely Coolray instead.

The Tito in me says for a first car, stick to the Japs. ZS and Coolray are nice but still haven't proven reliability. Maybe TS could get it as a second car in the future.

Never heard of the Coolray until I was beside it at a stoplight yesterday. It's a looker. I slowed down and let it move ahead of me to see what the name of the car was. When I got home I searched it on Youtube and was quite impressed with the interior and features. Pretty nice for a Chinese car.

The coolray is my top choice for now. But still having 2nd thoughts because of reliability concerns. It’s so hard to choose. The coolray is so cool and really offers a lot.

some folks buy their cars on the basis of showroom bling. others buy their cars on the basis of what's likely gonna happen, 5 or more years down the road.

Better check PMS cost ... read somewhere it's about 10T to 18T ...

If you want excitement and headaches, get the Geely Coolray ... if you want boring and peace of mind, get the Toyota Vios ...

Just get the Toyota Vios and be done with it ... if you change your mind, the Toyota Vios is easy to sell and will have higher resale value ...

Not true. Already checked with YGC group who runs the Geely dealerships. 10k PMS around 5-6k, no different from other cars with the same engine (1.5 Turbo).

    https://www.auto deal.com.ph/articles/car-features/how-much-does-it-cost-maintain-geely-coolray

Here you go for better clarity. (just remove the space between auto and deal)

Geely PH published this breakdown knowing that potential customers have concerns about PMS costs.

At least this gives you the gauge of the prices/charges, barring forex adjustments and changes to our side when it comes to minimum wage, electricity costs etc.

Coolray - hands down, it's more than value for your money.

If ako gagamit ng car... I wouldn't mind buying a Chinese car. Kinakausap ko nga family ko that I'm thinking of the Maxus T60... Sa real world use naman, change oil, brakes, air-filter lang ang "regular maintenance" and kaya ko gawin yun. Aircon... same lang yan kahit saan. Pero if iaasa mo sa casa/mechanic lahat ng repairs mo, medyo masakit sa bulsa magpagawa ng Korean/Chinese car.

My personal take on resale value... Iningatan mo yung car, sinunod mo yung recommended PMS... baka sa car mo pa ginawa si Jr. diba masakit kung babaratin ka dahit sa brand ng car mo?

I have close friends who bought a Focus and alam naman nila not to expect too much sa resale, pero nung time na ibenta yung car... kahit mababa na ang price, ni tawad walang offer to buy their cars.

Bilhin mo kung ano gusto mo, kahit saan pa gawa yan. Saka I hate it when resale value agad iniisip
